What time do they go down for that nap? How long do they nap for? And when do they get up in the morning?
I fear the dreaded transition to one nap is upon us

DS gets up around 8am. Naps at 1. Only for about an hour and a half. He goes to bed between 7-8pm depending on how tired he is/what we are doing.
I wish he would nap longer. My child hates sleep though.

Thanks guys!
@oliviaoblivia: She fought the morning nap this time but both of them are asleep now. If the same happens tomorrow and the weekend then I think it's "time". Ouch.

M gets up between 7:30 & 8, naps from 1-3 or 3:30 and goes to bed at 7. The transition hasn't been quite as horrible as I had feared.

@travelgirl1: Don't fear! I dreaded this too but once the transition was done it made life a lot easier.

LO wakes at 7-8, goes down between 12:30-2 (she's trying to figure out the later nap time, I think) and sleeps anywhere from 2-4 hours. I agree with @Mrs. Yoyo: one nap is WAY better!

wakes up 7:30-8:00. Naps from 1-3:30 during the week at daycare.
On the weekends we're so busy out and about she usually goes down by 2 and I wake her up at 5. They sleep more on 1 nap. She would sleep 4 hours if I let her.
Then bedtime is 4 hours after she woke up from her nap.

One nap has been fantastic for our family! We have a little less night sleep but typically a nice long nap, so it balances out.

Asleep at 7:45-8

I agree with everyone that has said that one nap is great!!
Our transition was really easy...I wouldn't even call it a transition because I just decided that one day we would do one nap and we never looked back. We never got those magical 3-4 hour mid-day naps, but we also didn't deal with overtiredness, nightwakings or a crazy cranky baby. So, all that to say...don't fear the 'transition!'

Oh and bed time is 8. We could probably push that up a bit then he would BARELY see DH during the week.

He wakes up between 7-8am.
Nap from around 2-4.
Bedtime between 8-9.
He was trying to sleep in until 9am for a bit, but that was killing bedtime, so I stopped that.
I also love the one time a day naps, kind of dreading going back to multiple naps a day with #2. Hopefully we can just adapt him to napping wherever like we did with #1!

Thanks, guys! Seems like 1ish is a good time for a nap, then?
@Mrs. Yoyo: It sounds like one nap isn't as bad as I imagine : ) I look after another little girl four days a week though, who is a superstar napper! But she's not down to one nap yet so it's looking like my LO will nap inbetween her naps and the whole day from 10am to 4pm (apart from lunch) will be taken up with naps. I'm going to try convince my LO that two naps are the way to go for a bit longer but, alas, I don't think she'll buy it

@travelgirl1: I went to a toddler sleep seminar, and got a great rule of thumb. For one nap, try putting baby down 5 hours after they wake, and then 5 hours after the wake from nap, put them to bed. Eventually they adjust and figure out how to stretch the nap from there.
My son is up at 6:30-7ish, then naps around 11:30-noon for 2-3 hours.

@Mrs. Confetti: Ahhhh, that's interesting. So what do you do about lunch?

This was such a hard transition for us, and really forced on her in the Fall when she went to daycare! Even over Christmas when we had her home for 2w if she seemed like she needed a 2 nap day, she got it, but since has been pretty solid on the 1!
Up for the day 7am
Nap 12/12:30 at daycare, more like 1pm at home.
2:30 wake
7:30pm bedtime

@Beebug: When does she have lunch? I usually give lunch between noon and 1pm...
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
At night he sleeps from 8:30pm-8am, naps from 1:30-3, but we try to keep him napping until 3:30-4. He'll often wake at 2-2:30 and we go in there and lay him back down and he'll often go back to sleep. This transition was only about a month ago.
