My almost 3 year old is only 25 lbs, and he has been forward facing since around his 2nd birthday. He was right at the cutoff for being big enough to FF, and in hindsight, I wish I had kept him rear facing much longer. But I was extremely pregnant and on modified bed rest and getting him in and out of the car was really difficult, and it was more practical to turn him around. In the grand scheme of things, I really don't think it is that big a deal, but I will probably leave my daughter rear facing much longer.

We kept LO RF until after his 4th birthday. Turned him when he reached the weight limit for RF of his carseat. My younger one is quite a bit bigger and I think he might actually reach the height limit before weight limit, but depending on his age we will consider whether to get a new carseat or turn him.

We turned my tiny daughter at 2.5, though we didn't have a car at the time...we bought one shortly after she turned 3 and installed her seat FF. 19 month old DD2 will stay RF until she's unhappy that way, since she's also on the smallish side weight wize. I susoect her height will cause us to turn her before 4, though.

I wouldn't say LO is "super tiny" but she's 3.5 and 27lbs and still RF. we have no plans to turn her around anytime soon. She gets in and out of her seat without issue so it's not harder to get her in her seat really than FF, she doesn't mind RF, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
