...are your kids capable of just ignoring each other?
My son sometimes bothers my daughter and she will come running to me and say, "He's bothering me!!" But when I tell her to just ignore him, she looks at me like she has no idea what I'm talking about. She feels she HAS to respond to his questions and comments, even if she doesn't want to.
Not sure how to teach a kid how to ignore someone... but my kids need to learn this life skill!

They aren't quite to that age yet, but I feel like a lot of kids don't know that skill!

No! DD2 (19 months) just LOVES instigating her 3.5 year old sister. I cannot get through to DD1 that she needs to just ignore it, and DD2 will stop!

They are really good at ignoring each other when the other is getting obnoxious, unless they are both in a grouchy mood. But they are still young (19 months), so that could change. I think it might be a twin skill since they have always been together and aren't phased by what the other is getting up to, generally.

My dad's advice was always this:
Rule number one: don't let them get to you.
Rule number two: whatever you do, don't let them know they're getting to you.

When my 7 yr old is bothering my 4.5 yr old she tells him "I am ignoring you" about 100 times in a row - I am like, yeah, if you keep talking your not ignoring him
