Which one are you getting them this year?
I always buy my God-daughter one for what she is into that year. So she is getting a Frozen one.
R will get a Minnie one.

I will probably let him pick one out. My MIL makes personalized ornaments for all the kids in the family, so he'll get one of those, too.

I was just thinking about this!
I have no idea what to get DD. I'm thinking of going with a Disney theme, and getting her Jimminie Cricket (her nickname is Cricky Bug - she rubs her feet together when she gets excited)

Haven't found one for B yet! I have a babies first Christmas for our new lil one though (hopefully she shows up by then!)

We always did this when I was growing up but we got to pick out our own ornament each year. It is fun to see how our tastes and likes changed as we grew up!

Not sure! I always browse to see what's out there first, and then that usually helps me figure out what fits them for the year. Frozen is a good one - DD would love that! I also really like the idea of a personalized one every year @mrsjyw: !

@bunnylove08: I haven't even started looking yet, but good to know!

I do a snowflake every year, of different materials. This year, I think I am doing laser cut wood.

I want to start this tradition! For this year I just need to get a "first Christmas" one!

C is getting a Curious George one I found at Hallmark. She is OBSESSED with George.

My mom does them for all the grandkids - each grandkid has a theme, like angels or santas.
I do one for our goddaughter, but I pick one I think she will like or I really like. She's only 2, so we might go with things she is into as she gets older. I usually find them at a local gift shop or at a big Christmas market that a local charity throws each year.

I think i'll be getting her either a Frozen one or a Sofia the First since those are her obsessions. Last year we got her a little fairy because she was just this petite little thing. I have a book I write down each year's ornament and the meaning so she can have it when she's older. I will do the same with #2.

I'm still on the hunt, but I would love to find something that commemorates it as his first "real" Christmas, as he turns 1 year old a few days beforehand.

@looch: We have ordered these for two years now for LO and her teachers. A little pricey, but they are gorgeous.

I've tried to avoid anything too childish because I want to give them to LO when she's grown and her want to display them on her tree. The link above is what we have done for two years. I also do a photo/porcelain one from shutterfly with her christmas picture.

I get a few but started the tradition last year of getting her one to reflect what she's into at the moment. Last year was an ornament of Fisher Price stacking rings and this year it's Elmo

@MamaG: I like the childish ones! I still remember mine from when I was a kid. It is fun for me to put them on the tree every year.

DD will get a Disney princess
DS will get Star Wars
I LOVE picking one out that represents their fav thing that year!
Don't forget to write the year on the bottom

@Smurfette: Thanks for the perspective. I shouldn't assume that LO will be like me and want a "fancy" tree. It's hard for me to let go of my perfect tree for a family friendly tree.
Of course my mom didn't hand me a collection of ornaments, maybe I would have had a different opinion on my tree if she had
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@MamaG: yeah DH and I both got all our ornaments when we moved out of the house and had a tree of our own. My Mom had to go and buy a ton after giving three kids their ornaments. I can't wait to do the same for R.

@MamaG: Oh, those are gorgeous, thank you for the link!
So far, I have more snowflake ornaments than my son is old in years, but we have a crystal, wedgewood porcelain, lennox porcelain, whimsical mickey holding a snowflake and at least one other, it's escaping me now. I also will get him a sterling one and then I might have to repeat. I did snowflakes because he's a December baby. He'll also inherit my set of silverplate sleigh bells, so I wanted them to kind of all go together.

@MamaG: those are gorgeous ! I may pick some up for our preschool teachers
I'll probably buy a Hallmark one for DS and a first Christmas one for DD.

Nice to see others going with Disney themes! I love Disney ornaments and we're doing a Disney theme as well. We're each going to get an ornament each year (me, my husband, and daughter, our only) and this is her first Christmas. We got a Doc McStuffins ornament for her--she doesn't really "watch" Disney Jr. right now, but she's started to kind of like the bright colors on the TV for short periods at a time and loves the songs.
