how often do you eat traditional food?
While I'm korean, DH is not, but he's the one that craves it more than me!
We have traditional korean foods and side dishes at least 3x a week for dinner (and leftovers for lunch)!

We eat Korean at least 1x per week and same with Chinese. DH loooooves Korean but I'm not a huge fan of traditional Chinese.

Both DH & I are Chinese... I would say we probably eat Chinese food 2 times a week. It's more work to make several Chinese dishes, plus we have to drive 20 min to buy Chinese groceries. But on the weeks that we just went to the Chinese grocery store, then we'll probably have more!

I grew up hating Korean food! Now I like it, and I craved it while pregnant with LMW. We don't eat it often though, since I never learned how to cook it. I make a few dishes.

Dh and I are both Chinese, we eat it daily. He's not use to eating what he calls American food. He thinks it's gross. Lo also favors Chinese food.

All the time. Except I can't cook it well myself, so DH and I rely on our moms and restaurants!

@Rubies: I was disappointed when i realized that Chinese families don't eat chow mein and fried rice for dinner. LOL. It took me a few months to get used to traditional Chinese food.
I cook Korean food twice a week, and cook Chinese/Vietnamese food twice a month. We get Chinese takeout or dim sum 2-3 times a month.

Probably most nights? DH is not Korean but is learning to cook it out of necessity!

@Freckles: I love both traditional & Americanized Chinese food!
I grew up with traditional in Hong Kong, and when we moved to the US, my parents would never eat Chinese take-out but I was so obsessed when I finally had it in college!

UM....EVERYDAY.
When I cooked American food, my husband gets really upset and he's like, "we can get American food from anywhere. We can only get Arab food home cooked." So, I try to stick with middle eastern dishes and honestly, I prefer the taste so much more.

We eat Chinese food (dim sum!) maybe once every few months now that we live far away from my family. I grew up eating Chinese food everyday and I hated rice for a really long time!

3-4 times a month probably? I cook more chinese food when my husband is away on business for some reason.

DH is white, I'm Korean. I love to cook in general, so we have a large variety of food on the menu at home.
He loves Korean food, but also needs some kind of meat to go with his meal, which sort of defeats the point to me, since I can make a meal out of soup, kimchi, sprouts, seaweed, and some anchovies or something. So how often we eat Korean together depends on whether I have meat around.
When my mom visits, she makes us a HUGE freezer stash of marinated meats for me to just thaw and stir-fry, so if we have that around, we eat Korean once or twice a week, with lunches. (I will eat Korean more often on my own with non-meat side dishes). If not, we probably go out to eat Korean once or twice a month.

I rarely cook Vietnamese food (my only exception is for Tet), but my mom watches LO during the week, so she'll make 2-3 dishes a week for us to eat. The hubs isn't a fan of Vietnamese food.

It varies, I dont cook Chinese food but Im starting and we see my mother every few weeks so usually at least a handful of times per month

I don't eat as much traditional Caribbean food as I'd like to. While I cook, I never learned from my mother. I regret it big time. I can make passable versions of my favorite dishes, but I need to step up my game big time. LO loves what my mother has cooked for her.

We don't cook it a ton, but overall maybe eat once a month or so.

My DH is white and my parents are Chinese but born and raised in Korea. While I crave my traditional food all the time, I think I enjoy it about 25% of the time. The rest I've had to adapt and make american food (and gosh some of it seems boring compared to what I grew up with), but the hubs is from Iowa and loves his meat and potatoes.
When I had our DS, my mom stayed with us for 2 weeks and I was in hog heaven with all the traditional foods she cooked for us. Yiou Bing, Myuk Guk, Giow zi, Bao tz. Dduk bok gi, tons of ban chan. Yum. After that, my hubs mandated that we refrain from asian food for a month.

@Honeydew: I see that you are pregnant... So will you get to be in heaven a second time?

I am better at cooking American food and pastas but I try to cook Asian food a few times a week Chinese, Vietnamese, or Thai foods. I do like Korean food and Japanese Ramen and sushi but only eat out for this.

I manage to make it to the Asian market only 2-3x a month so we will have it when I go. We also sometimes get takeout or go to dimsum. I loooooove Chinese food!

Once or twice a week. It's been a couple of years now, but I've finally learned how to get better at cooking traditional Filipino food. My hubby (he's Caucasian American), loves my cooking, and will try certain Filipino dishes, even though he's a really picky eater overall (for instance, he only eats his hamburgers plain with ketchup). He says my cooking is better than his mom's (but don't tell her that). LOL!

@mrsjyw & @gingerbebe: Hi! My best friend is Korean & gave me the best Korean BBQ recipe! I love Korean food, too and going to places that serve a variety of banchan. Yum!
As I mentioned in the last post, DH is picky, so I'm lucky he actually likes a few Filipino dishes (e.g. chicken afritada, chicken adobo, tinula-- which is a chicken soup of sorts).

I'm Korean and DH is white....and he doesn't love Korean food. We would have it maybe once a month or once every few months before LO. When I was pregnant I couldn't really stomach it and have never gotten the strong/frequent cravings back so we haven't eaten in awhile. I usually get my fix by going over to my parents to eat.

@sandy: Hi! I think you're on the Dec 2014 Mom board with me. Let's hope we can keep the food down in the next couple of weeks! LOL.

I cook Asian food frequently, and that usually includes Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese.

Once a week max because Chinese/Asian food doesn't fill DH up.

We are both korean. We eat korean/asian style food at least 3x a week and LO loves it.

We're not Chinese, but we probably cook Chinese at least once a week. Plus I always have a wanton stash in the freezer. We definitely eat Italian at least once a week. We love ethnic food! Our take out go-to's are usually Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and Ethiopian
