The "catch:" You still have to keep your current life. You still have kids, SO has the same career he/she does now, live in the same place...etc...
I think I'd like to be a mail carrier. Sounds silly, but the hours are great, all holidays off, good benefits, etc. We live in a very temperate climate and today, there is not a cloud in the sky. The mail carrier came in shorts and a t-shirt! And what an easy way to get exercise and stay fit! I'd love to spend all day outdoors!

For similar reasons, I want to be a dance teacher so I can get paid to dance/stay in shape and coach others. Dream job for me!

I'd like to be an EI therapist or daycare director. EI therapist to help other LOs (EI has been AMAZING for my LO) and families or daycare director to be close to LO all day and get a discount on childcare!

School counselor. Has most of summers off, school day hours. I started school with that as my goal, but was told I would have to teach first, so I changed majors. I really enjoy my job now, but the hours are rough.

I've thought about becoming a mail carrier!! Ha. Portland is too rainy though.
If I could do anything else, it would be midwifery. I'm currently torn about what path I want to take to get there. I'm currently a graphic designer.

I always love talking to people who do financial stuff. I think being an investment/financial advisor would be an interesting job. I guess I'd have to go back to school though, which isn't really an option right now if I had to keep my currently life otherwise.

Child Life Specialist.... I was accepted into a program and had to decide between that and teaching....in the end I chose teaching and am glad - better salary, summers off, great schedule with LOs and I love what I do - but I still think I would love the actual work of Child Life Specialists

I would like to teach or work in a daycare. I find it really hard to leave my daughter's classroom every morning, and would love to be able to hang out with those kids every day.

Hmmmm...probably something specialized within education like a reading specialist. Love my hours as a teacher but would enjoy the higher pay.

If I could keep my salary, I would probably be a high school math teacher at a private school (to avoid the NCLB testing nonsense).

I would love to work for the building department. civil job in my field, decent pay, great benefits and practically same as school schedule? Win

Honestly, I wouldn't change. I'm really happy with the path we're on now, just wish the salaries were higher!
If I HAD to choose a different one though... Equine therapist for special needs kids.

Philanthropist: research ways and organizations to spend and give money, help others, travel to monitor and commend people on their work, and make my own hours. Plus I would be the good guy to a whole group of people.

@Sapphiresun: the series 7 exam actually doesn't require a specific degree. I worked with a nurse who was studying for it!
I'm not sure. I think I would consider something in the tech field (database administrator or something) but I think I like people too much.

But realistically a job that I could (have) actually study and obtain... gah I have no idea. Probably why I'm directionless in life lol. I guess I would really love if I was a (successful) wedding photographer. If you're highly sought after you can make good money shooting 20 or so weddings per year. It's really hard work but I really enjoy it and I could stay home with LO (since weddings are weekends when DH is home) and probably just hire someone to come watch her a few days per week in my home while I edit during the busy season.
