@chopsuey119: Can you add an option for "no preference"?

HAHAHA chopsuey laid the smack down on Mr. Bee!!
If I could only have one I'd want a boy. They are cheaper and give you less lip : )

Anyone care to explain their reasoning too? I'm curious. I picked boy because I think boys are easier. But I have no idea at all if this is true, Also, we are having a girl, so she won't be an only child because we both want to try until a boy comes along.

@highwire: I've found that boys are easier and etc., but! After they get into college and get married they do their own thing. (of course there are exceptions).
DH hardly ever calls his mom. I talk to my mom almost every day!
A son is a son until he gets married.
A daughter is a daughter forever.

Gosh, I honestly am not sure. My gut tells me that I’d want to have a daughter but now that we’re having a boy I’m so attached to wanting a boy! I know that my husband would say boy without even hesitating and that makes me lean toward boy too for his sake.

We're only planning on having this one, and we're hoping for a girl. If for no other reason than there hasn't been a girl born into DH's family in 75 years, and this baby is the last chance this generation has of having a girl.

@highwire: I would prefer a girl. I agree with the PP that a daughter is a daughter forever. Also, I'd want a girl to have spa days with, help get ready for prom, go wedding dress shopping, etc.

I would say girl, but only because we already have our daughter, and if I was only going to have one kid, it would be her!

I'll say a boy, since that's what my LO is. (I would've said girl yesterday.)

I'm so, so excited to have a girl first I just know that she's going to have DH wrapped around her finger, and I hope to have a relationship with her one day like I have with my mom.

Whatever the good Lord gave me. It wouldn't make a difference to me!

Girl girl girl. I want a girl sooo bad. I feel like i wouldn't know what to do with a boy. That's why when the time comes we're going team green so I have no time to be depressed about it if it's a boy hehe. Just bond with the baby and hope for a healthy baby no matter the gender.

I love my son so much I can't imagine having any other kid other than him.
Maybe we'll have a sibling for him some day but if all we ever had was DS, I'd be more than happy.

I couldn't decide for myself, but I know H would rather a boy, so for his sake, I'd say boy. I have a gut feeling that we will have all boys anyway.

Asked me a year ago? I would have said girl.
But ask me today, it's a boy all the way. Probably because I have a baby boy and i love him to death and cannot imagine anything different. He is the sweetest thing. Also, everyone told me (who has raised both girls/boys) that boys are easier too, busier and louder normally, but easier in the emotional/mental sense.
However, you have point about how often boys grow up and do their own thing. it is really sad. My brother lives 6 hours from my mom and doesn't talk to her much. When he's home, he hangs with the guys and my dad.
Whereas us girls are hanging out with my mom allll the time, we talk alll the time. We are best friends.
So in that sense, I would love a girl, cause I want her to be my friend too.
but since I already have a boy I said boy

I would say girl, only because girls are closer to you/take care of you/make sure you don't wither away in some shady nursing home when they're older.
Yeah yeah, I'm totally going to make my kid(s) take care of me!

@chopsuey119: I agree--you lose your son when he gets married (and you probably prefer him to get married and not be at home at 40). I want a girl because of the relationship I imagine we'll have when she's an adult.
I'm not concerned with a boy or girl being "harder to raise."
AND... I have a boy. DH just said "now we just need to have a girl and we're done!"

@dc yoga bee: I was totally depressed when we found out boy--and wanted to be team green. But now I love my son. The 20 weeks of knowing didn't help me adjust to having a boy, but holding him in my arms did!

I voted for girl because girls seem to be more mature and are more helpful, even at a young age! Which is great to know for when you're old and needing a little help.
Boys seem to less attached and helpful.

@chopsuey119: yup, that's why I chose girl - I think a son would be less likely to take care of you when you're old and helpless.
I think the saying is "A son is a son til he takes a wife, a daughter's a daughter the rest of her life"

I have NO idea...I'm glad I won't be the one in charge of deciding that! I do agree with pps who said a son is a son until he gets married, but a daughter is always a daughter...sometimes I almost tear up thinking about how LO will eventually get married and leave us--and he's not even BORN yet!

I think I'd choose boy, if I HAD to choose. I see the relationship that my DH has with his mama, and I love it.

A girl. I was beyond thrilled when the ultrasound showed LO was a girl Totally agree with @chopsuey119 that a daughter is forever

Boys are easier? WHAAATT? I love my son, but he's a wild man at heart. He is in the kicking and headbutting phase, where he's totally giving me the smackdown for not getting his breakfast to the table fast enough then he's cuddling me 10 minutes later.
I am personally the opposite of a daughter is forever. I moved to another continent while my brother just bought a house in the town where I grew up.

@looch: I think girls are easier until age 10 and then there is a magical flip where the boys settle a bit and girl hormones kick in. Nature has no wrath like a teen girl!

hmm i really cant choose, i love my son but would also love a daughter! Maybe im just in the minority but all the men in my life (hubby, brother) are all incrediably close to mothers and i have never thought/heard of losing a son once they get married, that makes me sad
