If you get an invite somewhere, do you automatically assume you can bring your LO unless it says otherwise?
I was invited to a bridal shower tomorrow and they know that we have a 5 week old, so I figured they'd know I'm bringing her. Same with the wedding next week. We did list LO on the RSVP, saying there would be 2 of us and an infant.

Hm. If it was addressed to just DH and I or specifically stated no kids, then no I wouldn't assume to bring my kids.
Otherwise I would assume bringing my kids is fine. However, depending on the event I may NOT bring my kid anyway.

I agree with .twist. If the invite strictly addresses you and the hubby only and they know you have LO, then I would take it as no kids. You could always inquire with the bride to verify.

@.twist.: Most of the attendees will be college buddies of ours, so it'll be fun to show her off a little, plus the bride was the kids pastor at our church. We got the invite before she was born, so it was addressed to the 2 of us. We do know that other kids will be there.

@MaisyMay: Oh yea, then I'd totally bring kids. 
I know sometimes depending on the event it might be nice to have adult time, but if everyone is bringing their kids then I'd go for it!

I wouldn't assume unless all 3 names are on it; I would double check! (even though it sounds like it would be totally fine in this instance)

I usually ask unless I know the kids are specifically invited. This is definitely a sore subject for some people.

I normally think LO is not invited unless it specifically says she's included. Even informal invites, I always will have DH check to see if LO is invited and if everyone else is bringing their babies/kids.

I think I would go cautiously with her but try to make sure the attention doesn't get pulled away from the bride and to your lo.

.@tororojo: @Honeybee: She's the children's pastor of the church where the wedding is, and was our children's pastor too. I can't imagine her not having kiddos. And it's an early afternoon wedding.

I always ask. Once I asked.... Assuming los were ok but asked just in case. She said no for space reasons. It was during nap time anyway.

I've known of kindergarten teachers who had child free (or just select children) weddings. It's probably best to ask instead of just assume. It would be awkward for everyone if your LO wasn't really invited but you brought her anyway.

I usually ask the answer has always been yes thus far. But now that he's older I usually get a sitter for those types of things.

For a wedding I wouldn't even ask because I wouldn't want to put the bride in an awkward position. If LO isn't on the invite I assume we need a sitter. But for a shower I would ask the hostess.

I'd generally assume no, depending on the situation. My friend is getting married in a few months and although I know her nieces will be there, I'm not even asking about LO. Grandma will be babysitting and I'll be having a night out with DH!

Reading your comments, I would say she's probably welcome. Especially since your LO is so low maintenence being only a few weeks old and won't cost them another head for the caterer.

I would definitely ask first, but if it were me I would probably leave my baby with DH at home regardless. I know some brides totally don't care and maybe even prefer to have babies at their showers, but I definitely wasn't one of them so I can totally sympathize feeling that way. It was a sore subject for me because there are so many babies in my family!
