I'm looking for ideas to help our boys start enjoying & listening to books. They show almost zero interest. They have absolutely no interest in sitting down (even for a part of a book) to read a book together. As an avid reader and a children's book fan, this is killing me!
My approach thus far has been just to sit and start reading books to them even if they won't sit for it to (1) avoid a power struggle/fight over story time and (2) hope maybe they'll slowly develop an interest as time goes by. The best we've managed is they will occasionally wander over and look at a particular page; this is true even if there are no toys out, etc. They're just super physical kids and would rather be moving than reading. They do like to hold a book sometimes, but they don't look at the pictures or anything. The above is true even for books that have things to feel, flaps to open, etc.
If your LO wasn't interested in books or being read to, what did you do to help develop their interest and at what age did they start getting into it.
