I was thinking about this today, and if I had an extra $500 laying around to spend, I would probably book time for another tattoo. Or buy a copious amount of fancy food, like expensive cheese...
What would you spend it on?

If it was just for me, a 50 mm F1.4 lens.
If it was for DH and I, a new mattress, ours is soooo bad.

Paying down one of my horrid college loans! Absolutely not glamorous, but honest!

I’d buy curtains for my bedroom. I found these amazing lamps at HomeGoods last weekend that has given my bedroom a renewed style. So, I decided to sell my comforter set, 8 pairs of curtains (bedroom and old dining room curtains). Even with those proceeds another $500 would help me buy the curtains I want without having to wait for a sale.

@Kaohinani: In all honesty, I would probably spend it on student loans too...

Realistically (and responsibly) it would go to our giant flue/chimney repair.
Or some nice, heavy curtains for our living room. It faces the street and has the setting sun - would love some curtains to muffle sound and block some light. All of the ones I like are really expensive though. And there are four windows in that room.

If it's not for something responsible like bills/loans, I would probably put it toward a new bedroom set or an Android smartwatch since I've started working out again and would like to track pulse and steps and what not

Assuming it's not something responsible, I'd probably use it to buy that expensive Step 2 Rollercoaster and put it in out playroom. I know our kids would love it. Or an inflatable hot tub, with twinkle lights and some decor to spruce up our garage where it would live (way too buggy to have it outside, and building an enclosure would be more than that budget allows).

Fun stuff: Apple Watch (I sold mine because I didn’t need it, but 3 kids later...I could use one)
Not fun: debt

We are doing major pool repairs/upgrades in November, so all extra cash goes in that savings account labeled "POOL" ! The sooner we have the money, the sooner we can get it done!

Blackout shades for the new windows we are getting installed in a few weeks. We’ve been holding off on buying new windows shades for the windows since we knew we would be replacing the windows themselves, and they are in the kids rooms with terrible roller blinds. And the shades will probably be about $100 each and it’s 5 windows, so perfect!!

Babysitting + expenses for a date night.
If there is money left I'd hire someone to clean the house. Thinking about it makes me happy I don't know why we don't have a regular maid service I guess we feel like we won't be able to afford it

If for something to purely pamper myself, I'd save it for a night away once I wean LO. I would sleep and sleep and sleep (can you tell my kid's teething has really disrupted his sleep lately I'm so tired) and get a massage and some acupuncture, and enjoy some nice chocolates...

If it meant to splurge, spend it on a hotel room, spa, a clothing item and eating out.
But if I recently splurged, then I would invest and see if I could make more.

I’d take the kids on a weekend trip. We haven’t traveled out of town together in a year and a half!

I would go on a clothing shopping spree. This is the part of our budget that is the tightest and always gets eaten into for other things so it would be freeing to spend it all on clothes, which I need to constantly buy for work.

For me: a pair of shoes that are way outside what I normally spend on shoes
For the family: Beasts of Balance hybrid balancing game, another Amazon Echo Spot
For my husband: a pair of Cole Haan zerogrand sneakers

I'd go to this amazing spa and bliss out for a day. And maybe I'd bring my husband. Maybe.

Realistically it's going in the bank to prep for need to replace our boiler in the near future!
If it's just for me, I'd spend it on an nice pair of tall boots, new winter jacket, and a facial/mani/pedi.

I'd probably spend it on a little self-care...a facial/massage and a new pair of boots for the fall.

I’d pay for the $537 bridesmaid dress I just had to splurge on... sorry I’m still a little bitter.
For myself: I’d love to pamper myself to a nice massage, mani/pedi, and a new outfit from Anthro.
For home: I’d like to replace a few outdated lighting fixtures in our dining room and living room.
For kids: more money in their college savings.

Family pictures taken by our wedding photog. My husband always grumbles over the cost but we seriously cherish every family session she’s ever done. I’m always behind the camera and never in casual day-to-day photos
