I'm not too helpful, but we have made it work with our Acura TSX. It's small but just enough room for all of us.

We have 2 LO with maybe a third in our future. We have a Honda Pilot and so far love it. I think we've only used the third row once so far. Unfortunately when using the third row there isn't much trunk space but I imagine that is common with most SUV's.

I am in LOVE with our nissan pathfinder
3rd row is very accessible even with car seats installed and surprisingly roomy.

I don't have 2, but drive a Tahoe and it would work fine for multiple kids. But it doesn't have much space at all in the third row, which is why I wouldn't really recommend it of you're looking for a true 3rd row. You'd have to move up to a suburban, and those things are just so big!
Over thanksgiving, though, I rode in my friend's brand new Toyota Sequoia and it was so roomy! She got the platinum edition and it has crazy nice extras!

We currently drive a CRV (honda) but will probably get an Acura MDX when we have a third. Or Honda Pilot.
My husband drives an Acura TL which is also fine with the two kids. I don't think he will upgrade when we have a thirs.

An outback. Love it, but not sure once I get the second convertible in as far as how roomy it will be!

We have an Acura MDX however if you're looking for something with a 3rd row, the Honda pilot has a much roomer 3rd row than the mdx.

Honda Pilot, I love love love it! We looked at it and the pathfinder and felt like the 3rd row was roomier in it and I get pretty great mileage for such a big vehicle.

We have two kids in an Acura MDX, no third row. It is just enough room with a double stroller in the trunk. We also have a Honda Pilot which has a third row, if we didn't get the MDX we would be happy in the Pilot too.

We are in the same boat as you...needing to upgrade from our Outback because we have two carseats, a double stroller, and a large dog. We are looking at the new Tahoe, Mercedes GL450, or the Infiniti QX80. My DH likes the Toyota Sequoia but it looks too much like a truck for my taste.

We have two kids and a large dog, which fit perfectly. My car (Audi Q7) has a third row but we keep it folded down for extra trunk space. It would be very hard to fit a car seat in the third row, although there is LATCH back there so it would be possible. The hardest part would be getting a child in and out of the very back. I think I've read that three car seats across is doable in the Q7 though. If we were having a third child we'd probably get a minivan. Luckily we're done at two!

@meganmp: I'm actually test driving an outback tomorrow! DH and I are super interested in one. We have DS in a convertible now but baby #2 will be here in a couple of months. Would the outback work with convertible, infant, and me in the back with the kids?

I currently only have one LO (but we want more!) and I've seen my friend's Honda CR-V with three Diono Radians all in a row in the back. They fit!
We also have a Honda CR-V and will keep it whenever #2 comes.

GMC Acadia. I like it space and driving wise, but it's had some safety recalls.

@Blueberry: it would totally work with the convertible an infant seat. It might be a little snug with you in the back though. I never rode in the back with the kids, I just rode in the front. I have ridden in the back with them when we had 3 adults, & I fit, I just wouldn't want to do that all the time. I think you might have a hard time finding any car that would fit like that, though.

the acura mdx has a 3rd row, but i think it would be difficult to get in and out of with 2 car seats since the seats have to collapse to get in the 3rd row. my friend has the big infiniti SUV (i don't know the model) specifically because the 2nd row slides, so you don't have to take out the car seats to get in the 3rd row.

@bushelandapeck: hubby doesnt like Mercedes. We are looking at suburban, Infiniti and Tahoe.

Toyota highlander which has a 3rd row and I loveeeee! And DH drives a Chevy equinox.

Our Toyota highlander was awesome with two kids...plenty of space. Too small with 3 though. We'll probably get a suburban next to fit everyone and to tow a boat too.

@BandDmommy: I drive a Prius, but we plan on getting an Infiniti QX60 when my kids get a little older and aren't as messy.
persimmon / 1472 posts
We drive a Highlander and it works great! I like that the second row center seat is removable so you can access the third row from it - like a minivan. We can't fold the seats and slide with the car seats in place so this was crucial!

I know everyone hates on the minivan (I used to too!!!) but after test driving a few 7 seater SUVs and the van, it was a no brainer for us. Our Caravan was $10-$15k less than a similar trim level SUV, waaaayyy better gas mileage and it's designed for moms. Built in DVD player saved us on our road trip this summer, and from my spot in the drivers seat I have easy access to 7(!) cup holders. Not to mention no more kids knocking doors open and dinging other cars. Minivan power! Lol!!!

Cuz we needed room for three car seats, we recently got the suburban. Love it. But definitely a bulky car. Would hate driving it into the city. We also test drove the Yukon xl. They didn't have lots in stock, so we went with the suburban. It's basically exactly the same? I told my hubby not worth paying extra for escalade, especially since I want to downgrade when they are older to a smaller vehicle. But he was considering that.

We bought a Pilot when we got pregnant again. Supposedly all three of our car seats will fit in the second row. So far I absolutely love this car!

@tequiero21: Tahoe was another car my husband mentioned. Did you like it?
honeydew / 7968 posts
@BandDmommy: Tahoe was too small. We wanted trunk space. I heard tahoo is the suburban without the trunk space. Tahoe = Yukon, suburban = yukon xl.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@BandDmommy: we also got the suburban that had the captains chairs? The second row has only two seats. So we can squeeze in and out nicely for the third row. The infant car seat is behind the driver seat. We can comfortably fit 7 people. We do love the trunk space. Space for groceries, stroller, etc. and we have utilized it to haul some furniture we bought!

@lavender: My husband wants to trade our forrester in for the crosstrek and were looking to have a 2nd in a year or too. is there enough space to fit a dog in between the 2 seats? and is the trunk pretty roomy?
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
We have an GMC Acadia but are planning on trading it in the spring for a different 3 row SUV. Not sure what we want, I want a Tahoe but DH wants a cheaper car payment, so who knows what we will get!
