Well, I've only had it about 4 days, but we just got the 2016 Pilot. Love it so far! We got the bench. We had an Acadia (which I also loved) but had the captain chairs. We decided we wanted a bench to fit 3 car seats across so that we'd still have all the cargo room with the 3rd row folded down. We're pregnant with #3. Right now we just have the two seats, but my mom was able to fit in the middle of the two car seats with no problem.

@Mamasig: What model did you get? We want the Elite for the panaramic view!

@Smurfette: we got the touring. It does have some pretty cool features. I like the camera that checks your blind spot and the shades built into the back windows. And it's very quiet, which is way better than my Acadia. I'm still trying to figure everything else out.

@Smurfette: darn. Why did you have to post this and then I went and looked at it and now realize the Pilot comes with captains seats in the second row. Aaaaand now I want this car. lol

@Mamasig: Does it have a sunroof at all? We were looking at that one till I read it doesn't have the panaramic view. I love having a sunroof.
@mediagirl: do it!

@Smurfette: It has a sunroof. But it's not panaramic. That's longer, right?

I have a Toyota Venza and with the panoramic view and I wouldn't spend extra money to get it. It's basically a giant window on the roof that you only see if you're sitting in the backseat.

@ShootingStar: I think that model has extras DH likes along with the paranamic. But if it is the only difference, I won't pay the $ for it.

@ShootingStar: agreed - we have a panoramic on our Pathfinder and it is closed 90% of the time because the sun gets in DDs eyes and/or makes the back seats really hot for her. I am bummed and wished we hadn't spent the extra $ on it. Though I do love and use the smaller sunroof that is up by the driver& passenger seat! Sorry to thread jack

I don't have one but I want one!! I'm eyeing the ex-l model as it has most of what I want/need. I esp want that push button to close and open the trunk. Is it possible to get the captain seats without getting the elite? I didn't think so but maybe I'm wrong! I want the captain seats too but I can't justify paying 10k more just for them I think we'll probably get one within the next year. Maybe closer to when the 2017 comes out

@kodybear: not sure, DH is doing most of the research. I just told him what I wanted. He wants another car but is starting to lean towards the Pilot.

@Charm54: I hadn't thought about the cooling aspect. It is HOT here in the summer so 6 months of the year it will be closed. Something to think about for sure.

I have the 2016 pilot ex-l and live it. I have a bench, I believe you need the elite for captains seats? I'm slightly annoyed that the ex-l doesn't have navigation, but I honestly use my phone more for gps, so it's not too bad. I do have the back up camera, but it doesn't beep, again, I think the higher level trims have it. My requirements were leather and automatic trunk, after that I was fine with anything else. I had a rogue before and the pilot has so much more room! It's big but not hard to drive. The third row has plenty of room. I sat in the back with my brother who is over 6 feet tall and we had plenty of leg room!!

@brady80: so if you're close to backing up into something, it doesn't beep? thats kind of annoying that you have to pay more for that option! my priusV has that and its so helpful, more for peace of mind that theres nothing behind me. i'm still jealous of you and others who have the pilot already!

@Smurfette: we have the Panaromic sunroof on our car and DS insists on it being closed all the time. Definitely see what R thinks about it when you test drive.

@BandDmommy: we weren't planning on taking her with us but maybe we do!

@kodybear: yes, it has the camera and the lines, indicating where your tires are go from yellow to red as you get closer to the object. I'm so used to driving a car without a camera, that I barely use it but my husband gets super annoyed because his car beeps. It just seems silly to have the camera and then not the sound

So glad you started this!! I am obsessed with the new pilot. We have a 2005 crv and are thinking about getting a new car.
@Mamasig: do you mean it's quiet on the highway? Our old crv is so loud it drives us crazy. Also, does it feel like a minivan inside? Or maybe would it if you had captains chairs?

Gah! I have an outback now and have been eyeing the 2016 pilot redesign since before dealers got them. I sat in one a few months ago and loved all the extra room, but I hate the idea of having a car payment again!!
IT was awesome! I would love to have an EX-L model!

@raintreebee: yes! I can barely hear any outside noise. It doesn't feel mini van to me (I'm pretty anti mini van)!
pomegranate / 3565 posts
@raintreebee: I have the touring and the passenger mirror has a camera, so when you put your blinker on to turn right or change lanes you can see your blind spot in the monitor area. No blind spots! It also has other safety features with veering and such. I haven't been able to drive it tons, but it handles so smooth. Great turning radius.

@matador84: same! Our outback is a 2013 so we're not upgrading soon but I think once we get going on baby #3 in a few years, I'll be looking at the pilots!
papaya / 10560 posts
@birdofafeather: 2013 here too! My husband is 6 ft 3 and has to scoot the seat all the way back on the rf seat when driving. It drives me crazy!!! I would really like a bigger car eventually!

We ended up getting a 2014 Honda Pilot Touring. I preferred the 2nd row bench over Captain's Chairs and we got the car at a great price with low miles. I'm trying to figure out how to configure the car seats (we did bring the 2 convertibles and install for the test drive, along with the infant carrier for the baby that will be here in the fall). For now, I'll have both in the 2nd row, but when the baby is here I'm trying to figure out if I want the older two in the 3rd row and baby in the middle alone, or the oldest in the 3rd row and the middle child and baby in the 2nd row.
I think I'll really like the car though!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@matador84: does that mean you got captains seats? We have the bench with the baby on the passenger side (because that is easier to fold down for people to get in the back), my oldest in the middle ff, and my second on the driver's side rf. It works out really well because my oldest can climb in and buckle himself while I'm getting the other 2 in and he will also check on the baby for me, adjust the sunshade, etc.

@skipra: we got the seating for 8!
I'll add that I'm contemplating moving my oldest to a booster. He's in a Britax marathon now, but weighs 50 lbs and I just discovered I really shouldn't use latch with his seat. So if I have him in 3rd row, I'll put him on side with no latch, DD on the side with latch and the baby in the middle row probably behind the driver.
