Ours is with Chase. It has been very simple to use and reimbursements are directly deposited into my bank account quickly and easily. I've never been charged any fees.

We just use a local credit union and don't have any fees. We have a debit card that we use to make all purchases and it's nice to not have to turn in for reimbursements.

@MrsKoala: We bank through Chase so that would be easiest but I messaged them and they're no longer offering HSAs

@lawbee11: Huh. Maybe we got grandfathered in! I hope we get to stay with Chase next year.

I didn't realize you could establish one independently - learned something new. My DH had one that was through his employer and it was at Chase.

@MamaG: That's because you can't - only an employer can establish one. If your employee offers one (and gives the option of self direction), you can then select where to put the money.

@LBee: Thank you for clarifying - I was really confused (and ready to go set up a HSA )

We have one with a $48/yr maintenance fee but I figure we save way more than that! We have to submit for reimbursement. I need to get more organized about it but since I'll have a hospital bill for delivery coming in the next month that will cover the amount we set aside, I haven't done many individual reimbursements.

@MamaG: Sorry! Should've clarified this is through my employer.

Our maintenance fee is similar. I think if you use something like $200 a year than it is worth it. It depends on your tax bracket though. National Benefit Services have a debit card you use so we don't have to fill out reimbursement requests.

We used to have one through Wells Fargo. I liked it a lot. I felt like it was far cheaper than traditional options. It was a little annoying to always gets bills though. Since you don't have a co-pay, you always get a bill weeks later. Our monthly fee was something like $3 or $4.

@lawbee11: I would seriously check a local credit union and maybe you can bypass the fees. I pay zero fees for our HSA and we did pay fees when we had one at Associated Bank. Perhaps we don't pay fees since we have several accounts with them already?

Do you want to be able to invest your HSA funds?
Here's a list of HSA custodians including a few that are no/low fee. https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Health_savings_account#HSA_custodians_and_options

@NorthStar: Our credit union doesn't offer them unfortunately. I might look into some others, though I don't know if I'll qualify for membership.
@sunny: I'm not sure! I'm sort of overwhelmed by all the options. That link is really helpful, though, so thanks!

Mine is with Optum Bank and there is a $1 maintenance fee monthly. I have a debit card with it, so I almost never have to deal with reimbursements. When I do, it's as simple as requesting a transfer to my linked checking account, and making sure I have the paperwork to back it up if anyone ever asked.

I'm so sorry! I confused HSA with a FSA in my earlier post. Wrong info...delete!
