When DH went away for a weekend when DS #1 was a little under two years old, we visited my parents. That weekend happened to be when he got his first ear infection. I recently solo'ed for about a day and a half with both kids. We stayed home and stuck to schedule.

We don't really have anywhere to go, family is all 6+ hour flights away so not worth doing for a weekend. We just try to keep busy by going to the zoo, children's museum, out to breakfast or lunch, playdates, etc. It's tough on me but there's no alternative.

We don't have family close by so that isn't really an option for us. I have a few friends who have spouses that work Saturdays so I try to make plans with them. We don't usually go out after nap (except to the park or foot walks) so I sometimes will go somewhere in the evening or we do something fun but not stressful for dinner.

I don't drive, so we stay home but I try to get us out of the house at least once to break up the time. We'll hit up a playground or museum, sometimes we do a playdate, and often my dad will come over on one of the days and have lunch with us.

My family is s little too far to drive for a weekend so I would stay home, but see if anyone wanted to come stay with me (two sisters are now 2 and 3 hours away). It's much easier for them to come to me and the two kids. Otherwise we would pretty much treat it like a weekday and try to stick to schedules and take it easy. Driving the 5 hours to my parents house alone with a toddler and baby is too much for me to handle.

If I had family that close, we would definitely make at least a day-trip. Because of the boards prep, I'd be inclined to get out of town even more -- I generally think it's more frustrating when DH is there but not really "there" than if he is just gone!

Depends on my mood, sometimes I'll go stay at my parents or sometimes I'll stay home and keep busy with activities with the girls (or use it as an excuse to hang around in yoga pants and not do much!)

Sort of 50/50. Sometimes I visit my fam or have them come stay with me (plane ride away).

But since I still only have one LO it's manageable and if I'm being honest - I love that when he goes to bed I'm TRULY alone for a few hours. I love my husband but I also really love alone time. So even nights he has a work event or happy hour I relish that time!

I wish family was closer, but they're 5-6 hrs away when DH is on call or working shifts all weekend, I haul the kids to the gym for 2 hrs each day and usually throw in a Target/Costco trip in there. It sucks living far from family during med school and residency. I'm going to really be pissed if we don't move back home when he's all done. 1.5 hrs away is DEFINITELY do-able for a weekend trip!

Doesn't happen very often but the times that DH is away or working around the clock, I usually go stay with my mom. Not that it makes it any easier because her house is not really kid proof so I have to be on top of them all the time, but it's nice to be around someone else.

I would probably drive to my parents house. 1 hr away. They're awesome! Unless I had something specific to do that was fun and worth staying for. And in that case, I might have my parents come up haha.

I dont have family close, but have friends near by who are also often solo parenting on the weekends or willing to have us over for a bit. It helps so much to have other grown ups around to break up the days.

Everyone is nearby, so nowhere really to go. We just do the usual.
