Would they be able to do it without asking any major questions? And how would the house look when you return?
I finally got to go hang out with a friend last night so left DH to be on parenting duty. He didn't ask any questions and the house was mostly picked up when I got home. Back when the girls were younger he always had a lot of questions before I went anywhere and a tornado usually made its way through the house. I think it's just easier now that the girls are older!

He would not need to ask questions, the house would be clean, no dishes in the sink and he would have laundry done, folded and put away.

I would make sure he knew pertinent info from the day (i.e. If she'd pooped yet, how she ate that day, if she's been extra grumpy), since I stay at home with her all day. But he wouldn't need instructions or anything.

He would do fine with both and wouldn't need to ask any questions. He's not great about cleaning up after himself much less the kids. He tries though...

We don't do this often because my kids still very much prefer me for nursing reasons, but when DH solo parents he usually needs to know what time they went down for a nap/what time they should (hopefully) sleep until and what time/what they should eat for their next snack/meal.

This is one of our major issues lol. The house would be an absolute tornado, food everywhere, messes everywhere, LO would be half naked, up way past bedtime, and I would get a million texts on where stuff is or if LO is misbehaving. It drives me insane. Obviously both kids would be fed and taken care of, but not the way I would do it.

My son would probably not have had a bath, watched lots of videos and the house would be a disaster....but they would have had a blast and probably done a ton of fun stuff.

He would be fine with Evan, but he might be up a little past his bedtime. The house may or may not be cleaned.

He would ask about food. He does it every single time he is responsible for preparing/gathering a meal. Drives me bonkers that he can't think for himself on this one, but I guess it's a relatively small issue.

DH would be fine and wouldn't need to ask any questions. When B was a baby and DH was caring for him, he'd always manage to cook something too. I never seemed to have the time so I'm very impressed! He hasn't solo parented both kids yet only because E is nursing and will not take a bottle.

I leave tomorrow for a girl's trip and he will be solo parenting for 4 days. (actually more like 3, he's going to his parent's house for one.) But he will be fine, I did make dinners for him since he's not a cook (taco meat, homemade pizza stuff, & hamburger patties.) all stuff I know he can handle easily and in a timely fashion. I asked him to please keep the house clean that I don't' want to come home and have to clean!

DH solo parents at least once a week because I have to work late. He doesn't have questions unless he can't find something. Whether the house is picked up or in tornado mode is hit or miss.,,,,but it is hit or miss for me too.

He'd be totally fine. He has solo parented for a week a couple times. The only thing is prefers me to do it leave out outfits for her. He dresses himself very well but for some reason, picking out clothes for her stresses him out.

Dh is actually trying to convince me to leave both girls with him this weekend when I fly to Dallas for a friend's baby shower. But since the little one isn't even 3 months old and I'm BFing, I'm too afraid she'll develop a bottle preference. I'd love the extra sleep though!

@NovBaby1112: Same here minus the half naked part. DS likes to be dressed so I don't have to worry about that, but ditto on no bath, food and toys/mess everywhere, etc. Or he would just take DS out to meet up with friends so DS is occupied and it's less on DH.

He wouldn't ask for instructions, the baby would have a blast, house would be more clean than it was when I left and some home improvement project would be in the works. No clue how he does it. I swear they have some sort of secret deal behind my back... like he promises her a year supply of ice-cream when she turns 2 or something

DH would be fine with DS, but DD is 4 months. He doesn't handle both of them very well yet. He'd be fine if it was less than two or three hours. More than that and the chaos, snacks, tv cycle would begin.

This happens a couple times a month if I have work events or girls nights or whatever, and he's always totally fine. Any questions would be just cpordinating logistics, like if she'd pooped yet or what all she has eaten so he knows to offer different foods

It's usually no big deal. He's better about picking up the toys than I am, but Inhave to tell him where the pjs are and sometimes he leaves a dirty diaper out.

I usually give suggestions on what to feed her, since I stay home with her and know what she ate that day, plus I do the grocery shopping so I know what we have. So that's fair and he can come up with stuff on his own anyway. And I have to tell him if it's bath night. Otherwise it will be pretty much like if I was home- dishes may or may not be done, toys may or may not be picked up. Neither of us are great about that so I can't blame it on him.

Eta, for a long time this was not the case but dd's mommy preference is finally a bit less since having a brother. And dh has been home so he has gotten used to her routines more.

He'd be fine. He doesn't get the importance of naps which drove me bonkers, but he wouldn't burn the house down. Also , ice cream is a food group when daddy is in charge.

He usually just asks about food and otherwise is fine. If I'm gone past bedtime the house is normally mostly picked up. It's gotten so much easier for him now that DS is on 1 nap and can eat most things we eat.

He'd be fine. He's used to watching them on weekends while I'm working. The house would be sort of a mess though.

He's done great for the last few trips but I have noticed he takes them out to eat a lot.
He did say he appreciated that I had packed up little containers of snacks for the kids (cheerios, raisins, etc) and organized the snack shelf. My kids love to eat so if they are fussy, give them a snack and they can get through it.

Yes. And the the house would look better than it does at the end of the day with me lol. Mess bothers him more so I always let stuff just build up and at the end of the day I clean everything at once. He puts stuff away throughout the day.

He does really great with DS, even better than I do some times. And he cleans better than I do. However he usually doesn't pick up the house, so it's just kinda messy when I get home.

DH has always done great solo parenting. Now he's a pro after being a SAHD for 8 weeks! I left him alone wth Dd for 3 days and they had a blast. I was impressed he took her out to eat alone and to a festival and everything. There were toys and dishes everywhere when I got back, but he did manage to do her laundry, so I was happy.

He would ask me to get out pj's bc he complains about how I have DD's closet organized and that he can't find anything.
He wouldn't pick up toys... he sucks at that!!
