Following! I"m 13 weeks and have lost 7 lbs. I'm grateful though because I was overweight to start. But, I am curious when I'll start to show, when I"ll start gaining weight, and how much I'll gain!

I didn't gain until I was about 26 weeks along. Then I gained 1lb. Around 30 weeks I started to gain a lb a week. My dr wasn't concerned because LO was measuring ahead and everything looked great.

I didn't start gaining until 20 weeks (at which point I was down 4 lbs from prepregnancy). My doc wasn't worried a bit. Baby was born full term and perfectly healthy. I was only 18lbs over prepregnancy weight on the day I delivered, and I was back down below prepregnancy weight (and in my regular jeans) by nine days post partum. As long as baby is growing well I wouldn't worry about this a bit.

I'm pregnant with #2. I'm 22 weeks and I've gained 2 lbs (but I clearly look pregnant and baby is measuring great). Last pregnancy I lost 12 lbs in my first trimester (horrible morning sickness) and didn't start to gain until around 18 weeks.

My doctor isn't concerned this time and wasn't concerned last time. Women gain at different rates through their pregnancy.

As long as you are eating healthy (fruits, veggies, lean protein, lots of water, etc), don't worry.

I lost in the first tri but didn't gain anything back until 18/19 weeks. I'm 26 weeks now and up 7 lbs.

I lost about 5 pounds in the first tri. Currently @ 32w I have only "really" gained about 7 pounds. Dr said it's perfectly fine.

I lost close to 15 lbs in the first trimester, and I didn't hit pre-pregnancy weight until well into the third trimester. When I went into labor I was only 4 lbs above that. But E was always right on track and was close to 9 lbs at birth. My midwife told me that we were a textbook case of a baby taking exactly what they need from their mother.

With my first I started gaining around 20 weeks. I'm 15 weeks with my second now and down 10 pounds I hope to start gaining soon!

I didn't start gaining weight until after 20 weeks, and didn't surpass my pre-pregnancy weight until the third trimester. I was carrying very small, but my Dr didn't seem worried. My baby was born healthy, over 8 lbs, so try not to worry about weight gain if you otherwise feel healthy!

I lost weight during the first tri & gained weight after my nausea subsided.. Somewhere around 16 weeks. I really packed on weight the last few weeks though.

I'm curious about this too... I didn't even have real nausea and stopped my intense workouts in the first tri and I still lost 1lb at my 13 week appointment. It's not much of a loss, but I have been EATING. So I'm ok with not gaining too much weight but I do want my baby to grow! We'll see what happens in the coming weeks!? We've still got time to gain, @nana87! AND the holidays are coming!

My sister in law is a midwife, not MY midwife though. But she was saying that no matter what size you are to start out with, she likes to see weight gain on her mommas. She cited a research article about how not gaining anything could be less than great for the baby. But I would just go by what your physician thinks is good for unique, you!

@nana87: I was overweight to start and I kind of figured my body didn't really need to add extra weight since I already had it. I did start a thread though, asking the same question :D.

Everyone is so different with how they gain, and I also think a lot of it depends on your body type. I lost a pound in my first tri both times but then piled the weight on in my second tri. I didn't really gain much in my third tri with my first (currently 26 weeks with my second) and ended up gaining 32 lbs total. Right now I'm up 21 lbs at the 26 week mark so I appear to be bang on track with a repeat of last time, but I'm also quite thin naturally and I think that has something to do with it. I know our bodies need to build up fat stores whilst pregnant to support breastfeeding etc, so I'm pretty sure mine does that during the second tri and then just chills for the remainder of pregnancy.

Bottom line though is that the weight gain charts are to be taken with a grain of salt as everyone is so different. You will know better than anyone if you're eating an appropriate quantity and making healthy food choices. As long as you're doing that, I wouldn't worry about it.

I only weighed myself at my appointments, so as far as I know, I didn't start gaining until about 20 weeks. I was up about 5 pounds by then (morning sickness left at 16 weeks)

I didn't gain until around 16-18 weeks and at 23 weeks I've only gained 3 kg (6.6 lbs). My midwife was unconcerned and still isn't concerned about my weight and gain but I was overweight to start with.

I lost 6 lbs in the first trimester, started gaining it back at 14 weeks, reached prepregnancy weight at 23 weeks and only gained 12 lbs (net) overall. Baby girl was 8 lb 6 oz and perfectly healthy. It's weird. My dr said over and over (I asked often), that the lack of weight gain was fine, but yet still insisted on weighing me every visit. Why weigh women at all if the number doesn't matter?
