@sorrycharlie: I don't like bananas either!
1/2 cup fresh strawberries
1/3 cup fresh pineapple
1 scoop of Syntha 6 Vanilla Ice Cream protein powder
1 strawberry flavored Greek yogurt
water
You could add a handful of fresh spinach and not taste it much.

My standby is:
Spinach (fresh or frozen)
Berries (fresh or frozen)
1 banana
Cup of hemp milk
Two tablespoons of ground flax
Tablespoon of wheat germ
I add honey, peanut butter or pineapple sometimes for a change up.

Lately mine have been pretty boring, but I think they still taste good:
- frozen strawberries, blueberries, and cranberries
- banana (I don't like bananas either, but I don't mind them in a smoothie)
- cottage cheese
- water
In the past I've added things like a scoop of almond butter, ground flax, or chia seeds.

I always start with almond milk and plain Greek yogurt, then add frozen fruit: berries and bananas or baby spinach/baby kale/mango/pineapple. (The sweetness of the the mango/pineapple is really good at balancing any bitterness from the greens!)

Since it's winter a lot of it is frozen fruit
Soy milk
Banana
Mixed frozen fruit (strawberry, pineapple, peach, grapes, blueberries
Plain Greek yogurt
Kefir
Splash of 100% pomegranate cherry juice
Chia seeds
I should ask DH to add flax seed since its suppose to boost supply!

Bumping! Just got a Nutribullet and not I want to smoothie everything!!
Anyone have a good, low-cal "just because" smoothie recipe? Like ice cubes, almond milk, and something else??

The key to me for smoothies is the technique:
I use frozen fruit and put all the ingredients in a blender with liquids the night before and let them thaw a little bit in the fridge overnight - it really helps the blades grab onto the stuff if it is a little softer.
Then i pulse the blender a few times to break everything up then run it on the lowest setting for 30 seconds then i slowly move up to medium speed and you can see a vortex and let that run for a minute, then i slowly move up to full speed for another minute.
I typically do 16 oz of frozen fruit, 8 oz of liquids (usually milk and some sort of juice), and then I throw in whatever greens I have around at the end.
(I learned it all from Alton Brown).

@LindsayInNY: I do this all the time - I use almond milk, banana, chocolate syrup, and ice cubes - the kids think its a milkshake!

@Mamaof2: That might be doable... I've been craving smoothies and since they're not replacing meals, I want them to be lower-cal (not always full of fruit and veggies). I'll have to try that one!

My favorite is about 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 1 banana, 1/2 cup of plain full fat Greek yogurt, 1 big spoonful of peanut butter, a drizzle of honey & 1 cup almond milk. Blend it up and DH and I will split that for breakfast with a side of pb toast.

@LindsayInNY: Unconventional Kitchen is having a 30 day green smoothie challenge going on right now. She sends you a new smoothie recipe every morning and shopping lists every week. There has only been 1 day that I haven't really liked the final product. http://www.unconventionalkitchen.com.

I put Kale and/or spinach into every smoothie I make! I've been doing apple cider, plain yogurt, kale, frozen banana, frozen cherries, a splash of lime juice, ground flax, some PB2 and sometimes frozen pineapple (I'm cautious about pineapple due to mixed comments on it) and it all sounds weird but it's SO good! I've been doing almond milk, ice and frozen peaches and some cinnamon and a little bit of sugar too.

I just bought a Vitamix and I've been doing frozen berries, a banana, frozen pineapple, coconut water, shredded coconut, spinach or kale, and ground flaxseed. My kids LOVE them, and they despise all veggies.
