OMG. Hilarious. This topic terrifies me to no end. I never had "talks" about this with my parents and, therefore, I have no idea what to do with my own children. Even though I know I want it to be different than what I had.
Our two eldest are now getting to an age where this is going to have to come up sooner, rather than later, and I'm just not prepared for it. My plan is to let DH & his ex deal with it, but what if they spring those questions on ME? What do I DO? I get sweaty palms just thinking about it.

@.twist.: I never had talks with my parents either, so I'm going in blind! And heaven knows what his little mind will take away from it.

@Tanjowen: I'm pretty sure I'll end up somewhere with cows and lotto tickets. Rambling is something I can do well.

OMG this just makes me cringe and laugh...but mostly cringe. I know you're supposed to use the correct phrases for genitalia, but saying P & V to a child is too much for me. I know I have awhile, and I plan on being open and honest with my girls about sex and what it means, ect. however I relish in the fact I have several years before this happens.
My mom never really had "the talk with me" i honestly remember watching Dawson's Creek as a jr. higher and with her and my older sister, and her saying "if you have any questions let me know..." So i guess Dawson's Creek was my sex education BHAHA

@LuLu Mom: bahaha! that is HILARIOUS. Oh, Dawsons Creek. I wasn't even allowed to watch that, so there went my sex ed!
We have been using penis because I think it's important. Although, I will never forget my girlfriend telling me about the time she took her girls to the grocery store and the eldest said to the cashier "you're a girl!" Cashier "yep!" Daughter "I have a vagina, and SO DO YOU!" haha...

@LuLu Mom: I cringe a bit every time I say penis to my son, but I also think it's because I never spoke about sex with anyone. It was such a taboo topic in my household growing up. I imagine we will use penis and "private part" interchangeably as he grows up.
And Dawson's Creek, haha! My mom's entire talk to me when I started my period was driving home from school, she tossed over her shoulder, "Well, now you can get pregnant. Don't do that or your father and I will be very angry." And that was it! I got most of my education from stealing those awful steamy romance novels and reading them. I knew the phrase, "Heaving bosom," too well, hahahahhaa.

@.twist.: @Tanjowen: Yes, I remember it was when Pacey got with the teacher...HAHA oh good times.
I know I should tell DD that she has a vagina, but right now at two we call it her "potty" and she talks about it enough that I can't imagine her calling it her vagina. She went up to my dad out of the blue and was like "papa I have to be sure to wipe my potty good after I pee otherwise it will hurt" and walks off. He goes "well alright then" He had 3 girls so nothing really phases him! HAHA so I can only imagine what she continue to say.
We've never talked about boy parts, but she has decided after walking in on DH going to the bathroom that he has a "tail"
