Did you paint them back to the original color when you moved out? I think we might lose $150 from our deposit if we leave LO's room painted lavender but I think that might be a well spent $150!

Someone else moved right into my old apartment, like didn't even give management time to come in and clean, so we never repainted and we got our deposit back. But I think that was a unique situation. Wouldn't it be easy to paint it back once you are all moved out though?

I only painted in one of our apartments and the landlord didn't care whether we did or not. I was getting rid of wallpaper that was in there and he was going to take that down anyway.
In the townhouse we're in now, I didn't do any painting.

We repainted and they said it wasn't a good enough job! So we lost some of our deposit anyway. The apartment complex did provide the paint, which was nice.

We stenciled one small section of a wall in our last rental and the jerks charged us like $300 to repaint it. Total ripoff, no way it would have cost that much and we would have done it ourselves but I thought the lease said that we could paint and didn't have to repaint upon moving.

@autumnlove: Double check that it is only $150. A friend didn't repaint her walls, had like two rooms, and they ended up charging her way more then she thought it was going to be.
I painted one time and repainted before I moved out. Never did it again after that.

Does you lease prohibit painting/say anything about painting walls? As a landlord, my lease specifically addresses painting/altering walls and if someone painted I would definitely keep a portion of their security deposit, sorry!
I've never painted in any apartment I lived in.

@Smurfette: They did a walk through and said it will be $150 if I leave it that color....I hope there are no hidden fees beyond that!

Yes, in one of my old apartments I had painted 3 separate walls. They said I would lose some money from the deposit if I didn't re-paint, which at that time I would rather have someone else do it than deal with it myself! I was prepared to lose deposit money, but I got almost everything back!
