If you say "My spouse is going to pay for this"

Same as @swedishfish: and a lot of others - most of our money is in joint accounts so it's probably coming out of our joint account. Occasionally we'll buy each other an ice cream or similar with our measly personal accounts and we're usually overly dorky about it being "our shout"

@Mrs. Jump Rope: We do this, too! So glad to see someone else who gets it, haha. We honestly don't keep enough money in our accounts to both be pulling from the same one--so we have two joint accounts...but there's only one card for each account (one is "his," one is "mine"). I totally get it! Haha.

We laugh when we say something like that cause it's all joint money and think the idea that "he" or "I" pays for something is just a joke.

I read your title and totally read it as a threat LOL .... Like he will pay for this, but not ever getting laid again!

We have separate accounts, so when he pays, he pays! We just have our separate bills we are responsible for, that even out at the end of the bill cycle.

Means I'm too lazy to pull out the card, but we only have joint accounts. We both wanted complete transparency. I've seen some wild divorce cases involving financials (not saying having a joint account will prevent a wild divorce lol!)

We have separate accounts so it means he is treating! We often buy things separately like if we go golfing or to the movies, on our own debit/credit cards. We do have one joint CC that we use for restaurants and gas.

My husband and I say that jokingly all the time since we have a joint account. Usually it's something to the extent of "I paid for it, you have to carry the bags!"

When I say it, I mean he will pay for it with his money. We have separate accounts and divide what we pay for. Mainly because we got married in our 30's and saw no reason to change the accounts we already had.

He pays mortgage, utilities, cable/internet, his commute costs and his lunches. I pay LOs daycare, my student loans, my Texas mortgage, my commute costs, and our groceries. He makes big purchases like appliances, cars, trips, etc.

Well, we have a joint account too, but we use it mainly for transferring money to each other.
