If you use a housekeeper or service, what do you do with valuables? e.g. cash, jewelry, passports, laptops, etc.
Do you trust them completely and don't do anything special? e.g. You'd leave cash in a drawer.
Do you put things away in a closet?
Do you keep a room locked & off limits?
Just wondering what is normal. I have never used a housekeeper before and I would like to hire someone.

I'm usually there when they get there and then leave for an hour or so because I don't like to be in the way. They were referred by another family I know/trust so I have no concerns leaving valuables out and we've never had any problems. I tend to be overly trusting about those kinds of things though.

We keep our passports, jewlery and cash in a safe that's bolted to the floor.
Laptops/computers, etc we leave out. We have cameras all over our house though, and she knows it.

Insurance. We used to have a little safe for important documents but that was stolen in a move so it almost seems safer to keep things spread out. We have cabinets that are off-limits, but they are not lockable so I doubt it's much of a deterrent.

We've had the same person clean our house for the past 8 years. We leave everything out. I think we initially started putting things in drawers, but eventually she proved to be supremely trustworthy. We always keep things like passports in a gun safe, anyways, but that has nothing to do with her.

We have a fireproof safe and everything important is already in there. I leave jewelry out in plain sight in soap dishes, some of it fairly valuable. I also leave iPad other computer stuff out. I've been using her for 2 years, no issues.

We check the room before where our passports and the insured jewelry is before they leave. I also do a quick check on our check books because those are easily forged these days. My husband usually gives me his cash to hold, which goes in my bra.

Other than personal documents, electronics and cameras, we don't really have valuables (no jewelry, for example). I'm almost always home when the cleaning lady is there. If I'm not, I don't do anything special. We trust her.
Although, I wish we had a fireproof safe for the documents. I would leave them in their if we did.

We leave everything out. I trust our guy and we never have much cash in the house anyway.

DH locks my purse in a cabinet which I think is funny. I haven't used a purse since LO was born. I don't even know what's in that bag he's protecting. Plus, he's home while she's there.

We put our checkbook and jewelry in a closed drawer, but leave out our laptops. I trust my house cleaner, and everything is always there where I left it when I come home.
