Would you mind sharing how much you pay? How often do they come and what do they do? Does the size of your property play into the cost? Thanks!

We pay $20 per mow, but our yard isn't huge. The backyard is all either wooded or patio, so they just blow the leaves/nuts off the hard surface. They mow, edge, and leaf blow every week in the height of summer, ever 3 once the growing season slows.
Our whole cul de sac uses the same company and prices range from $20 to $40 per mow based on yard size. We might also get a group discount, because they don't have to worry about plot lines and can do about a dozen houses all at once.

@MaryM: oh that's a very good point. My neighbor on the one side uses a service. Next time I see the mower guy I should ask him how much he charges. The sticky part is our neighbor two doors down on the other side has a lawn service! A few houses on the block use him...not sure why our other neighbor doesn't!

Garbage is that way in our neighborhood. It was SO confusing when we moved in! Like four different services come in our neighborhood, so there's a truck coming every single day. It's really annoying!
Having the same lawn service is handy though. All our lawns look great on the same day and no one ever feels bad!

We pay $30 for mow and weed eating. We have a fairly small yard but it's very steep down the sides of our house.

When we had one, we paid $40 every week. It was amazing. My yard has never looked so good, and I wish we could do it again.

When we bought my house, a guy had been mowing the yard for $25 a pop. He's actually an accountant and just mows lawns in the neighborhood on the side - I'd imagine a real "lawn service" would be more expensive. I mow myself now, though - good exercise!

$20 every other week. They weed eat and edge as well. It's cheaper if you do it weekly vs every other week.

We pay about $40 per mow (coming once a week). We have a large yard (1/4 acre .. that's actually large for our area). They mow, trim pull weeds and trim the bushes.

We got quoted at $75/week which would include mowing, weeding, and some pruning. We don't have a huge yard (usually takes Hubs and I about 1-1.5 hours to do it ourselves), but we have a lot of landscaping with mulching and flower beds, so I think that might be part of why the cost is so high?

We have about 1.25 acres and when we had a service it was $50/week or $75/bi-weekly. The guy was kind of flaky and never raked our leaves, so we bought a riding mower instead.

$35/every other week (or weekly in summer if needed) for large front yard, 2 skinny side yards and a smallish back yard. Includes only mowing and simple trimwork at edge of flower beds. We had him come in and do new mulch, plant a few things, weed, etc. the front flower beds and that was $200.

$25 weekly they mow and trim. No idea how much land we have but DH takes 1.5-2 hrs to do it himself front, back and sides. I've gotten quotes and they go up to $35-40.

@snowjewelz: @Adira: good point. I should just call around and get some quotes. We have 3/4 acre and it can take DH almost 3 hours to edge, trim, mow and clean up. We have a riding mower that my ILs got us as a housewarming gift. I'm just wondering if I can find someone for under $30/week it would be so worth it for DH to get those 3 hours back. That'll bbe extra family time or time doing other house renovations items. House work is never ending!!
Does your lawn person come when you're at home or at work?

@regberadaisy: That's why we bit the bullet and hired someone (and just pay minimum and get the basics done but he does a good job!) b/c I rather DH help me with the baby with those hrs! Or its an extra hour or 2 he can rest.
I found my guy from a mom from a local FB group who happens to live 2 streets away from me.
He comes Sat... And he says we can call him if we have something going on on Sat and need him to come another day. Sometimes we're home, sometimes not.

@regberadaisy: You might also see if any of the companies offer a deal if you also get them for snow removal. I know our company does it, but I'm not sure if DH has contracted that or not.
We never know when our lawn guys are coming, but it's usually during the week. They don't go in the back yard if it's closed/locked, but if we leave the gates open they'll go back there with a leaf blower and clear off the patios.

We just bought a house with about 3/4 acre and it will cost $45. My husband will do it himself once we're more settled and he buys a riding mower. I hope that enables him to do it in a reasonable amount of time!

We have a half acre in the back and then flower beds/lawn in the front and side of our house. We pay $45/week.

Wow... its so cheap for all of you guys!
We pay $60 every other week and they mow, edge & blow. They also do seasonal stuff like trimming the hedges and pulling weeds.

We pay $25 for mowing, edging and occasionally trimming the front bushes. If we have them do extra work like cutting back the bamboo or mulching, we pay extra. They come every other week. They do several houses on our street and come on Sat because they do large commercial contracts during the week.
