I usually suck it up and buy it anyway because the selection in our town is so crappy that if I've made a special trip to the mall (about a 45-minute drive) I'm not going to want to make another.

You could always buy it online? Or is there another maternity store? I wound up buying things from 3 different Motherhood stores (all the same distance in different directions!) and one was at the outlet mall.

Actually, I avoid our Motherhood Maternity just because of that! We have like... two places to buy maternity clothes, but I really didn't like the attitudes of the women in there, so after two tries, I gave up and won't go back lol...

I have left stores because of bad service and visit another day or visit a different location to buy the item. Sometimes I will tell the clerks why I did not make a purchase and what they should have done instead. Example a shoe guy at Dillard's totally irritated me by not bringing out all the shoes I asked for (he forgot) and at one point he brought me a smaller size shoe because my size was sold out. I told hom if anything you bring out a larger size!

@Bookworm: @tororojo: weird- the motherhood near me had such awesome moms who worked there! They were so helpful.

It depends how rude they are! If I know I can find a similar item somewhere else I'll leave.

@tororojo: does your receipt have a survey at the bottom of it? if so, I would definitely call and give them a piece of my mind. I understand an 'off' day but when you've had consistantly crappy service to the point where you don't want to shop that location anymore, that's a problem they should know about. I remember working in retail and those surveys would come back to our store and got mentioned in meetings. So they will hear about it.

@tororojo: hahahaha, cracks me up! There was a lady shopping when I was there (while pregnant) and she said regular clothes didnt for her so she bought maternity... She carried all her weight in her stomach and was quite... Ahem... Heavy... awkward. I still like some of my maternity pieces- but never would have thought to shop there not pregnant!

I would probably walk out if I got bad service.

If the salesperson is truly rude, I'll probably not buy from the store, unless it really is my only option.

I HATE shopping at the Destination Maternity in my city. They're very friendly but it's just such a hard sell in there! I know they're trying to be helpful but I like to shop by myself, not with someone throwing a bunch of clothes at me that I don't want or need. Now that I know my sizing a little better I just buy everything online.

Go online and buy it. I would not only NOT buy it at your store, but I'd write a letter to the franchise telling them why you chose not to.

I'd usually just get it, but I have had situations where the service was so bad and it was something I knew I could get easily elsewhere so I did. My husband is so good about this though. He will absolutely leave a store and tell them he is going to make his purchase somewhere else.

I will walk out of a store if the salespeople are losers.
