I was trying to get in the same shape for #2 as I was for #1, but, for some reason, I've been gaining weight the past month. It's like the harder I try to lose it, the more I gain. So, if I get pregnant this month, I'll be 7 lbs heavier than I was when I got pregnant w/ DD.

@BabyBoecksMom: Good luck! I hope you get your bfp this month!!! It seems so sad to get in shape just to get preg immediately after, but I'm trying to get myself pumped up about it, lol.

This may sound incredibly selfish but I really don't want to get preg with #2 until I am 100% happy with myself! I got pregnant with O when I was 10 lbs heavier than my happy weight and and I beat myself up for it throughout my whole pregnancy. Now at 6 months pp I am still beating myself up for it since it is 10 extra pounds that I have to lose, lol. The good thing is that we don't plan on trying for #2 anytime soon so I have plenty of time to work on myself

I gained more the second time even though I started both pregnancies at my happy weight. I think it's because I didn't really lose weight in first tri like I did with my first, and because I exercised way less since I was busy taking care of a toddler.

@petunia354: That doesn't sound selfish at all. I started weight watchers last week (a couple of weeks of portion control already) because I want to be at a better body weight for #2. Also, I'm coming to terms with acknowledging that I'm depressed after the difficult year we've had with my MIL and everything else around it. I'm going to see a counselor soon. I'm waiting until I'm happy with myself before trying for a #2. I really, really want to be pregnant, but the circumstances just aren't there for it right now.
ETA: LO is 10 months old and I'm easily 20+ lbs overweight.

I've thought about this a lot. When I got pregnant I was at a fine weight, but not ideal shape. I was not toned at all. Now I'm in the same place, but working on the toning and regular exercise. I'm hoping that I'll be more disciplined in keeping it up while pregnant with #2 so it will be easier to jump back in after he/she is born. It does seem counterproductive to get in great shape just to get pregnant though :).

i lost all the weight 5 months after charlie was born. with charlie i gained 45+ pounds and with olive i gained less than 25 pounds (she was 5 weeks early though). i definitely gained much less the second time around! but now the weight is all redistributed to my stomach area even though i've lost all the weight again.

I was back to a happy pre-preg weight when I got pregnant with #2. I gained less the second time around for sure (even though I wasn't eating as healthy as I did with #1).
@Mrs. Bee: I'm back to my pre-preg weight again now but I agree, it's all distributed funny! My upper body (aka boobs) have become flatter than ever and now l have a pooch. Bleh.

@petunia354: ditto this. i was about 8 pounds above my ideal when i got pregnant, and now i am still about 28 above my ideal so i really do not want to get pregnant again until i am at my ideal AND i hope in my next pregnancy i learn my lesson and don't gain more than i need to! in my last pregnancy i hate to admit but i definitely and often had the mentality "it's ok to eat this ice cream/chocolate bar/pizza/whatever my heart desires because i am pregnant!" But i also have plenty of time before i plan on getting pregnant again, like at least another year and a half, if not more.

Although I wasn't necessarily at my skinny weight when I got pregnant with #2, I felt great about myself (for having an 11-month old). My stomach was flat and I was 2 lbs below pre pregnancy weight before #1.
So far (20 weeks) I have gained wayyyyyyyyy less weight than I did last time. I'm showing less, too. My body is responding so much differently.....so I'm calling boy!

I had just started to eat healthier before being pregnant with #2. I returned back to my weight before baby but still had a slight pudge. Right now I'm 22 weeks pregnant and have only gained 3 lbs. I also have GD, which plays a big role in my inability to gain any weight. The same happened with my first pregnancy after I was diagnosed. At the rate I'm going, I probably won't gain more than 10 - 15 lbs.

@PrincessBaby: I can't give a substantial comment because um, how would I know? I only have one child...but, here I go anyways:
I was good weight while pregnant. Only gained 30lbs and was in good shape (stamina). My son was 7.8lbs so I lost that 30 pretty quickly.
Now, I am eating paleo, doing HIIT workouts and I am in the beeeesst shape i've ever been. I mean, even when I was rail thin (like 21 years old), I still didn't have the stamina and nutritional levels that I do now.
So, honestly? I can't even imagine gaining any pound more than 30 with #2.
And I already know 30 is easy to lose.
In fact, i'll bet a LOT on not even gaining 30. I know that is asking for too much, but I believe it.
Paleo + working out like I do + being in great shape beforehand makes me think I can gain a little less than 30.
That all being said: it'll be tough. It's easy and fun to workout and eat healthy now, but being pregnant all winter and chasing a toddler, it will be substantially harder. But, staying in shape and being in shape isn't easy. I am determined like HELL.

I wouldn't say that I was at my ideal weight..... but I happened to be at the exact weight that I was when I got pregnant with LO. So far at 16 weeks I'm on the exact same track. I haven't gained much..... but I didn't gain that much in the beginning with LO so that doesn't mean anything. I gained too much with her.....

@Weagle: I don't see it as counterproductive at all! I look at it like this: getting you fitness level and energy level up *now* will help you keep working out and eating well during pregnancy. The way I see it: if you don't have a workout in place and healthy eating habits instilled before pregnancy, then you won't be strong enough to resist cravings during pregnancy. That is me anyways. I am a fool for a brownie, let alone when I am a pregnant fool.....oh no.
@petunia354: i 100% agree. I busted my butt getting in shape this summer because I know were TTC at the end of the summer. I did it mainly because i'm like, "I want my body back and to enjoy it alllll summer before giving it up to the baby again". That's how I feel; I cant help it. I want my body to be mine again for now and to look awesome, before I put it through heck again.

@PrincessBaby: don't be sad!!! I think it will make it easier for you to lose the weight with #2 since you were at your pre-pg weight after H! I think if you were still +10-20 lbs then got pregnant, you'd gain more weight overall making it hard to lose pp.

@petunia354: I don't think that's selfish at all and I feel exactly the same way! I'd also like to spend some time with my skinnier self before getting pregnant. Unfortunately we do want our kids close together so I may not have that much time depending on how long it takes me to lose the weight...

I was 122 when I got pg wIth ds 1, and 131 when I found out I was prego with LO 2. I gained 70 with ds so praying I don't gain nearly as much since I feel like I have so much toning to do....
