Thanks all. This confirms my suspicion that my DD has giant feet for how young/small she is. She turns 3 in 2 months and is in 8.5-9.

Almost 4.5y, most of her US size 10s still fit, but I've been buying US size 11s (or Eur 28/29s, depending on how they run) for her new fall/winter shoes.
ETA: I don't usually buy half sizes because of how fast her feet grow anyways!

@KayKay: I buy in Euro sizes, so I just convert, but she can do a roomy 25 or a 26.

@lamariniere: I know you were not asking about younger, but my kids have big feet. My 22 month old is in 7s. They are also tall. I'm not sure about your girls height.

When were fitted at Stride Rite the sales girl said that she typically finds that parents are shocked by the size they recommend because its usually at least a size bigger than they anticipate. They strive to have a thumb width of room at the toe of close toe shoes for comfort, swelling and growth. especially in new walkers.

@lamariniere: my 3 year old (turned 3 in July) is wearing a size 9. But she has several friends with larger feet.
My 13 month old is already wearing a 5.5, which big sister wore at age 2! She definitely has large feet. No surprise I guess, because my husband wears a size 13 and I'm and 8.5 or sometimes 9 after having kids.
