I had a few strange cycles after D+C...which makes things a litte tricky with TTC. I think I was cleared to try after the first cycle....but that was almost 2 mos later, I think, by the time I had my first "real" cycle (bled for 3 weeks post-D+C).

ETA: I hope that makes sense. They definitely want you to build up an adequate lining to "support" a pregnancy, before trying to conceive again. BTW-- by all indicators, I'm going to have another D+C Friday (for a blighted ovum, also). Feel free to wall me, if there's anything I can do to help!

We were just told to wait a full cycle before trying. No need to wait 3-6. That seems excessive to me.

2 cycles. My OB said there's no medical reason to wait, but rather you should just wait until you're emotionally ready.

We started after the first AF after our D&C. I did find my periods to be different for the first few, and my temps a bit wonky. We just found out i'm pregnant again on my third cycle post D&C AF.

Good luck! Take it easy after the D&C your body needs time to heal...

I'm so sorry for you loss.

My OB wanted me to have one period before trying again. DH and I were a little careless and didn't use protection one time after my D&C. It was like 6 weeks later, so we thought my period was going to come back soon and I got pregnant. Lost the pregnancy right away tho. I think because my uterine lining wasn't strong enough. We waited for me to have one normal cycle then on the second month trying, I got pregnant with my son.

So sorry you had to go through that! My Dr told me 3 months was best, but admitted she only waited 1 cycle herself, so that's what we did. I got preg on the third cycle.

Physically my doc said I could just wait till my first period post D&C which was about 5 weeks. Emotionally I wasn't ready for 2-3 months. The 2nd D&C I was ready immediately but my doc told me to wait for chromosomal testing to come back. Glad we did because I have an issue that would just keep causing miscarriage or worse. We went straight to IVF after that but it still took some time to get there!

ETA: First D&C was around 8 weeks. 2nd D&C was around 11 weeks.

My doctor said 2 cycles at both times. I got pregnant right away after D&c 1 and even though it was another miscarriage, my lining was thick so that wasn't the cause. Thinking of you

My Dr had us wait for a year because my pregnancy was a partial-molar and there is an increased chance of cancer, so he wanted to monitor my hormone levels to make sure I did not have cancer.

No experience with D&C, but sending

I had a blighted ovum and a D&E afterwards. My doctor said we could start trying after two cycles. I bled for 7.5 weeks (definitely not the norm, so don't worry) straight after my procedure then immediately got a period before I stopped bleeding (which was confirmed by ultrasound). I just ovulated according to my opk's.

We'll probably be trying next cycle.

After our miscarriage, my midwife said there was no real evidence for waiting. In theory, there could be a concern about the uterine lining in the cycle immediately following a miscarriage, she said. But evidence doesn't actually prove it. She advised not trying until after I'd had a period, both to be on the safe side regarding uterine lining and to make dating simpler. But she also said if I wasn't strict with protection and got pregnant right away, she wouldn't sweat it.

I was anxious to get started again because at 31, I worried that it might take some time to get KU, and I imagined myself becoming much more upset if the due date came and I wasn't yet pregnant.

I was very tempted that first cycle because I had such clear fertility signs. TMI I'm sure, but most abundant CM ever about 3 or 4 weeks after miscarriage. But we held off.

We waited until after my period returned and then got pregnant the first cycle trying. My husband likes to say, "this baby is strong," because I didn't have a bit of spotting and this babe has made me so sick every day! We are 13 weeks now.

ETA: I meant to mention that I was a little concerned with the cycle we conceived. I wasn't exactly back to normal; I ovulated about 4 or 5 days late, but it all worked out.

@simplyfelicity: Will you be under general anesthesia? I will probably have "conscious sedation" again-- I didn't feel a thing and the recovery is much quicker!

@simplyfelicity: I'm not sure what's more common. It's definitely not local (which would be, I guess, just numbing your cervix). For conscious sedation, they give you pain meds and sedatives through an IV. It's the same thing most people get with their egg retrieval (IVF). It's very safe, you breathe on your own (no tubes) and best of all, you don't remember anything and it wears off very quickly, so you can leave, eat and drink sooner. They would have totally done mine under general if I hadn't asked...you might talk with your anesthesiologist about whether it's an option for you. To me, it just seems like insult to injury to have a higher chance of nausea and a longer recovery (with general).
