@aegie: I am so incredibly sorry you have had to endure this. I cannot even imagine your loss.

@SimplyFelicity: I had a d&c for a blighted ovum almost 2 years ago (Nov. '12). I was told to wait 3 months, which I did...but I feel like the recommendation was more for emotional healing than for physical healing. I think it was about a month after the surgery before I had my first cycle. Also, I didn't read all the comments but I had general anesthesia...and before my d&c I would have told you that general anesthesia was one of my greatest fears in life...but I really am glad that I was completely knocked out, and I would choose that again if I had to (AND, how embarrassing...the anesthesiologist was the parent of one of my students, so I had to discuss my options with him, hospital gown and all...). Hugs to you

@simplyfelicity: I've unfortunately had a lot of experience with this!
After each of my D&Cs (I had 2) I waited 2 cycles because I bled for a month and a half the first time and 2 months the second time. I just wanted to make sure everything healed appropriately.
After my other 2 natural miscarriages, I waited a month after the first one and I just had my second natural (4th overall) last week. I'm headed to a specialist next week to determine next steps.

@simplyfelicity: Yes - that is what I was trying to describe in my wall post. If they will give you a "walking"/"twilight" anesthesia, go for it - the recovery is *much* easier.
Also, I know my doctor recommends 2-3 cycles because the first post-mc cycle is often wonky (as I think I remember was true after your CP, yes?).

@septca: Oh, sorry about that! I reread your post and now I understand. I was pretty beside myself. My knowledge of anesthesia is so limited. Thanks again for all your support.

@FliegepilzHut: Thank you. I am looking forward to having this "over." Thinking really good thoughts for you on Friday. I will be praying.

Also, thank goodness this is happening today because I started bleeding (after spotting all weekend) on our way to the hospital.

@jaguar: Thinking of you, lady! You don't know me, because I was stalking (but too afraid to join) the March 2015 Board... Take care...

@jaguar: @FliegepilzHut: hey, ladies. Just about to go in the OR. I am so scared but my doctor has been very comforting. I am so sad we are all in this boat.

@simplyfelicity: praying that everything goes smoothly and that you find peace when you get out it will be so hard but you WILL get through this

Thank you all for the well wishes. It means so much to me. The procedure went really well and everyone was so sweet. I was so scared but going under is totally the way to go.
@jaguar: Thinking of you and praying. Lots of love. When is your procedure?

@simplyfelicity: We are heading off now, but the procedure is probably not until this afternoon. Did you take drugs to help your cervix dilate first?

Wow-
I have been MIA. Last Tuesday I went in for my 7week ultrasound and the heartbeat we saw a week prior was gone; the baby stopped growing. This was m/c #3. I was and still am an absolute mess... I had a d&c Thursday (1st two were natural, and I just couldn't put my body through that pain again). I had NO bleeding or cramping until Sunday. Sunday I had unbearable pain and was curled up; at this point only bleeding a small amount. I called the OB first thing this AM and got in to have a follow up. She did an u/s and I have a clot and some retained tissue. Obviously this can happen because it is a "blind" procedure and my heart shaped uterus doesn't make this all an easy task, plus my cervix is tiny tiny - that even tore and I needed stitches!
Anyways- had to take a medicine tonight and tomorrow to start contractions to try to expel the tissue; otherwise I may have to have another d&c, which I couldn't even imagine.
So- for anyone wondering, I took a few days away from everything and everyone to try to heal my heart. Hopefully my body can do its thing and I can physically heal. Had a boat load of blood tests since the news of the m/c and am awaiting results.
Xo to anyone else having to go through this. This is so unfair,

@mrs bunchy: My heart breaks for you, sweetheart. I hope that this is able to be resolved for you without more surgery. Take whatever time you need to heal and please let me know if there's anything I can do or say to help. I'll be thinking of you!

@FliegepilzHut: I did, they advised against conscious sedation for some reason. I haven't had any adverse effects from the general, so it seems like a really solid way to go. I am pretty tired but nothing remarkable.

@mrs bunchy: I am so so sorry to hear this. So many D & C s this week. It's great to have this community of others who understand what I am going through but I hate hate hate that we have all endured this.

@simplyfelicity: Thinking of you and hoping you have a speedy recovery!
@mrs bunchy: So sorry to hear what you're going through. I had retained tissue (which they didn't find in 3 post op ultrasounds) which I expelled two months after my procedure...I had weekly blood draws to monitor my hcg as well. I'm praying that you don't need another surgery and your body takes care of what it needs to. hugs!
