How graphic is it?? I really want to watch it tonight because the plot sounds so interesting, but I don't normally like movies that are super graphic. I don't mind looking away if there are one or two really graphic scenes. I saw Inglorious Basterds and loved that one. For anyone that has seen both, are they similar in the amount of violence/graphic scenes?

Hm. I haven't seen Inglorious Basterds in a long while, but Django was quite graphic. There was a lot of unnecessary, unrealistic and hilarious blood. (I loved the movie and the unnecessary blood was part of what I liked).
It was a fantastic and funny movie though. I would recommend it if you can try to stomach some of the scenes... especially nearing the end.

@TurtleDoves: Honestly, the parts in it that show poorly treated slaves are necessary, and I don't think they were over done. At least in my opinion. It was a fantastic movie of a slave becoming a free man.

they're pretty similar, but there is one particularly bloody scene in django unchained. it's an awesome movie though, and i totally recommend it!

There were 2 scenes which I thought were hard to watch and had more to do with human suffering than over the top gore. like PP said the gore is so over the top that its almost humorous i equated to someone putting tomato sauce in a blender without a lid.

@TurtleDoves: Yea! I mean, I am no history expert but they seemed pretty realistic to me and didn't feel crazy over done. The blood though? That was definitely over done. hahaha I wouldn't expect anything less from Tarantino.

I saw both movies. Django is more graphic than Basterds. Some of the blood in Django looked comically fake to me. I covered my eyes a few times, but all in all it was worth it. Some of the scenes when there wasn't any blood at all was more terrifying than the scenes with blood.

There is gore/blood, but it's more comical than gross! It is SO good and FUNNY. I would definitely give it a shot!!

@delight: @MrsTiz: I don't know! We were watching Mad Men on Netflix and there was an ad for it, so I just assumed it was out. Maybe I am wrong, though, and it hasn't come out yet. If it hasn't then I'll have to find something else to watch tonight!

I thought it was really excellent but extremely gory and very, very hard to watch. It was actually my first Tarantino film and I definitely had to look away for several scenes. I don't think I missed anything by looking away and I still thought it was great overall!

I'm a big Tarantino fan and loved both movies. There are 2 scenes that were particularly difficult to watch (I looked away in anticipation!). But other than that not too bad, assuming you like a little blood and guts. I can't remember any scenes in Inglorious Basterd that were so difficult to watch that I actually looked away...

There were a couple of scenes where I had to close my eyes. It didn't help that I had morning sickness at the time and already felt like throwing up. Most of the gore in Tarantino movies is pretty campy though.

I had a little trouble watching it and turned away a few times but it was a good movie. I had never seen one of his movies before so one min I was excited and laughing, next covering my eyes and thinking wtf! I say go for it and if its to much shut it down.

I found it too much to watch. I don't mind a bit of gore but this verged on the ridiculous. I probably spent about three scenes of the movie with my hands over my eyes. Parts of it were quite good, but be prepared. I totally second the vote for Argo - loved it!
