So my OB has been recommending us interviewing and choosing a pediatrician, well, for a couple of months now. I have a few recommendations from friends and our OB as well. I feel kind of silly calling the pediatrician's office to ask for an interview. Did you interview your pediatrician? If so, how many did you go see? And what do you ask in the interview? I feel like I will just be compelled to choose the first one I go to. Or just choose one based on reviews.

We never interviewed them because I wasn't sure how to go about it, we ended up getting lucky and liking her so it worked out. If we hadn't, we would have just chosen another one.

I did interview her. She came recommended, and I called up her office, said I was looking for a pedi and that she'd come recommended and asked if I could meet her.
They had me come in during her administrative hour, and we just chatted for about half an hour. I wanted to make sure I felt comfortable with her, and that we were generally on the same page when it came to my parenting philosophies (breast-feeding, vaccinations, etc).
I had a list of a couple pediatricians, but she was the first I met with, and I instantly liked her so she was the only one I met.

I didn't interview. We just picked based on their online profiles.

We didn't. We picked based on recommendations from a couple friends/coworkers. We'll meet them for the first time in the hospital when they come to examine baby.

The pediatricians in our area all offered prospective new parent consultations. We went with the first one we met since we liked him so much

The pediatrician we picked has monthly meetings for prospective new parents. So I just went to that (DH was working and couldn't get off) and picked them. There are a bunch of threads on what to ask

We did, but I liked her so much I didn't interview any others. It was nice to meet her beforehand. I wanted to be sure before LO arrived. I didn't want to deal with a newborn and pediatrician shopping.

Thanks ladies! I'm glad to hear it's a common thing and I won't feel so silly calling for an interview. I do think I would want to meet him/her prior to delivering at the hospital.
