Not yet, but we'll probably whip some up tomorrow since we have the full day with the kids! We'll also make some hot cocoa, in case the eggnog is a bust.
You?

No. I'm the only one who likes it so I didn't bother buying any. Mimosas are on the menu, though!

It might be, but I'm not having any!
@lawbee11: yum! B and I always have mimosas while unwrapping gifts.

@mrbee: do you make your own? Do you use raw eggs?
I loooove eggnog. My family doesn't, but DH and me will have some!

@Mrs. Pen: Was thinking of making our own, but raw eggs do make me nervous! What do you do?
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@mrbee: i would only use raw eggs if they came straight from my dad's chickens! Lol! Farm fresh eggs from pasture-raised hens don't contaminate like store bought ones. My parents told me (not sure if it's true or not) that washing the eggs and then not using them right away is what makes them susceptible to bacteria like salmonella- so they don't wash them Until they use them. Not sure if it's true- but we make our own mayo using raw eggs and DH and I haven't been sick yet!

@Mrs. Pen: Wow that's awesome that your dad has chickens!! My mom has chickens too, but she's kind of far away at the moment.

@mrbee: lol yeah a little far my dad is 15 minutes away, and for the most part we do eat store bought eggs, unless I'm making mayo

@Mrs. Pen: That's so cool that you have a fresh eggs supplier!
Does homemade mayo taste better for you, btw? I made some the other day, and it tasted really different to me.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@mrbee: it doesn't necessarily taste better as much as I know I can make it way healthier by choosing a better oils and less additives. My mayo is just lemon juice, egg yolks, and oil (I've done avocado, walnut, coconut and olive oils). But it doesn't taste bad- the taste grows on you!

@Mrs. Pen: Got it, just wondering. I've been trying to eat healthier too and have been surprised by how I usually can't tell a difference in taste!!
