My friend is pregnant and I know that her cousin is throwing her a baby shower. She knows it, too, so it isn't a surprise or anything. However, no date has been mentioned and I would like to fit it into my already busy schedule. Is it appropriate to ask her or is it rude?

Since she knows that she is having one and knows who is throwing it, I say it's okay to ask. I had people asking me before I knew I was having one and before I knew who would throw one and I felt awkward about it all.

Agree with the others, since you know it's happening. I hate when people ask me, though, because I'm uncomfortable about having a shower in general. Plus, my close friends and family all live really far away and I didn't want to presume that any of my newer friends here would throw one. It sounds like they are planning to, but I really want no part in the process so its really awkward to field questions about it.

I think it's totally okay to ask for a timeframe. Just a "Hey, any idea when you'll have your shower?" ... She probably just doesn't have a date yet.

Can you ask the cousin? I'd try and ask the person throwing the shower, before asking the honoree.
