Our downstairs has an open floor plan and the only real "living" space that isn't an eating area or bedroom is the family room. Our family room is also her play room downstairs. We really like it that way, though and have tried to implement a pretty good system for keeping it tidy for when people come over.

Yes. Shes not yet 2 so it's way rare for her to want to play in her room alone, plus the girls rooms are small so all the toys would never fit anyway. We have it fairly organized and I don't mind it.

Nope. Downstairs we have a dedicated family room and a dedicated playroom. Upstairs we have a big bonus room that serves double duty.

Yup! I think when she is older and can handle more independent play/time, we will try to move some stuff back into her room but for now it's the easiest place where we all are and can keep an eye on her.

We have a semi open floor plan and the area that is supposed to be a formal dining room is their playroom. We don't have a formal dining set and the table is in the kitchen. Once the kids are older, their toys will move into their rooms and we'll get a formal dining set.

Our living area is semi-open. When you enter via the garage, there's this room with a pass through to the dining area and a big open doorway (it would fit french doors if we wanted doors) to the TV room (which I guess is the living room).
We haven't named that room off the garage yet, but it has bookshelves and a desk in it, and it will eventually be a room for toys since it borders both the kitchen and the TV area.

We have a playroom upstairs but we also keep lots of toys in the lounge and she's more likely to play down there than upstairs..... which I a good thing because the new house wont have a playroom!

Our living room (we only have one. No formal one vs family one) was also our playroom until we got sick of it and converted half our garage. We still have some toys in there but the vast majority are in the new playroom.

Yes...I'm grateful we have a big closet next to our family room so I don't have to look at the craziness all the time

We have a small office at the front of the house that doubles as a playroom. It is, at least, where the toys are stored. But they often end up in the living room.

Nope - we have a lounge that is mostly toy free, and a conservatory that has become a designated playroom but can also serve as a second lounge.
I love having the conservatory as the playroom as it obviously gets loads of natural light and has a nice aspect looking out onto our garden. We don't really use that room in the evenings so after the girls go to bed, DH and I can relax in the lounge without being surrounded by toys!

We live in an open concept two bedroom condo. So we pretty much have three rooms (plus bathrooms): bedroom, bedroom, kitchen-living room- family room- dining room- play room.
We do have it divided so most of her toys are behind the couch and got a huge IKEA shelving thing so almost everything can go in a bin when we actually make the effort.

It is now but we have a separate playroom at the new house. There will still be toys in the living room I'm sure!

Our main floor is open concept and almost all his toys are in the main living area. We have shelves and baskets to keep it organized. We also have a few toys upstairs for the mornings when we are getting ready.
I'm sure once he gets bigger his things will move to his room as he wants to spend more time playing there.

When we lived in our condo and apt, yes!
When we built our house, we added a playroom at the back of the house. It's crazy how clean our house stays now that the kids have their own area. -
Yes but it's a dedicated play room for them. We turned our living room into our famy room and made the family room into their play room. The toys travel everywhere though...

Our main living space is a really weird shape. It's really long and the one side has this previously useless nook that we turned into a gated play area. (although we only actually used the gates for like, 3 months... so now I"m feeling like they are sort of useless except to define the space lol.

we have designated corners in the kitchen, living room, and our office with his toys. Plus he plays a lot in his bedroom before bedtime.

Yes, but when the kids (currently 3 and fetus) are older, we plan to convert our attic (currently empty) into a playroom for them. It has a full sort of stairs accessed through the kitchen.
We also have a full, walk-out basement we could finish. Our house is an open floor plan ranch.

Yup! We all like to hang out together in the living room so it's like a toy store exploded in it, but everything has its own bin and place so we can get it tidied up pretty quick if we have guests.

Yes! We have an open concept too. We really try to limit to smaller things that fit in the space or baskets. We ran out of corners for things like kitchens.

We have two family rooms and call the more casual one a den and that is where most of the toys live. The bigger family room does have a toy area too since we spend family time there.

We live in a 2-bdrm apartment with an open floor plan kitchen and living room. But the living room is L-shaped. We put a playard gate around the L, so the play area is visually separate from the rest of the living room. But everything is still open.

Yup! Our living room is his playroom, but he has his own "corner" that we keep all his toys in. He'll bring the toys over to play, but we put them back at the end of the night.
The upstairs living area is also his play area.

Yup, toys are mostly in one area/corner and living room is on the other side. It's kind of an odd shape open layout. I like it that way, she's (almost) always within sight of at least earshot. I don't see the point of a separate playroom at least at this age. The toys go where dd goes and I highly doubt we could keep her contained in a separate room.

We have an open concept house, so the living room, "eating nook" and kitchen are all one big space - the most used toys stay here (we have a basically unused playroom downstairs where we rotate toys out). This is my TV time view and you storage solution. Every night all toys go into the baskets.
