@Mrs. Peanut: LO #1 was a July baby, and we sent out our Christmas cards late so we could announce on them. This was the card we used.
I'm not sure what we will do this time! We aren't telling family until Xmas day when I'll be 13.5wk since we are want to be enthusiastic and not tentative when we announce.

@runnerd: How cute! That's basically what we are doing too. We just decided to announce to everyone else soon after.

Soo happy about all the good ultrasounds reports.
How was everyone's weekend?
Mine was uneventful. Actually felt a little decent so I did some much needed house work.
So I tried some orange juice this morning, sounded good in my head, safe to say I will not be drinking any more. You ladies craving it can have it all.
I love all the Christmas announcement ideas. They are so cute. I was thinking about doing the stocking photo for a social media announcement or just having MIL (she's a photographer) do a session that we can post on social media that will announce the news. Not sure yet. I still haven't decided how we will announce on Thanksgiving to the whole family. I thought about letting the husband wear a shirt that somehow announces it or me wear a shirt saying "eating for two" but I am not completely sold on the idea. Any other ideas?
Hope you all have a lovely Monday.

For you ladies who are planning to announce on Thanksgiving, are you worried that it's too early? I will be 11 weeks.
We were thinking we would announce to extended family on Thanksgiving since we do a huge family dinner every year (and it might be hard to keep it a secret or to lie if asked), but my last OB appt was in early Nov and my next isn't until the first week of Dec. I asked my OB's office if I could come in before Thanksgiving to check on the baby and they said I need to stick to the schedule of monthly appointments.
In other news, I scheduled my NIPT aka cell-free DNA prenatal screening test for this Friday. I will be taking the Verifi test. Anyone else scheduled theirs yet?

My next appointment is Dec 16 and I'll have my NT scan and MaternityT test then. I'll be 12 weeks by then.
I think we'll announce our pregnancy on Christmas Eve since we'll be with extended family. I'll be @13 weeks by then. Parents know already. We'll tell our siblings next week at Thanksgiving.

@starlitsky: I'm announcing on thanksgiving, I will be 12 weeks - I'm fine with it because we will have our 12 week appt on the Tuesday before, and if everything looks good than I think the mc risk is like .5%?

We're going to send our parents a little announcement in the mail because I getting mail will be fun. We're still not sure what is happening for Thanksgiving yet so we don't want to tell them then and some other people who live closer have already found out so we need to tell them soon. I'll be 12 weeks just before thanksgiving and I have an ultrasound this week. That makes me feel more willing to talk about it with who ever we wind up seeing that day.
Our Christmas announcement will just be social media because I think everyone else will know by then.

@Mrs. Pink: most everyone that I see in a daily basis already know, I'm announcing on thanksgiving to people I hardly ever see, so it hasn't been that hard to keep a secret

I would feel a lot more comfortable with announcing on Thanksgiving if I had an appointment this week or early next week!
@MrsKRB: Isn't Thanksgiving next week? How is your 12 week appt next Tuesday if you're 10w5d today -- or did you mean your appt is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving? sorry if I'm miscalculating! haha.

@starlitsky: my appointment falls on 11w6d, thanksgiving I will be 12w1d

Yay I finally can join! I wanted to wait till I was comfortable with the idea and as I had my first ultrasound today I felt it was time to go ahead and post!
Location: Eastern Washington
EDD: 6/28
How far along: 8 weeks based on LMP; 8w3d via US
First child? with two legs yes (crazy cat lady checking in...)
First doctor appointment: 11/13 with the new Obgyn I'm seeing. I was actually starting to go to a fertility specialist as we'd been trying for over a year with luck. But we just started the process and the day before our appointment to go over all of our test results I get the BFP....
Any symptoms so far? Constipation.... omg so much... And lots of Pee! Thankfully my morning sickness has been really mild, just occasional queasiness. I actually have a lack of appetite most days! But I do crave salty foods when I'm hungry.
Who have you told? Hubby, my boss and work out partner who is also a co-worker.
We plan to announce it to family on Thanksgiving. I wanted to wait to Christmas but DH wants to do Thanksgiving and since everything has been going pretty well so far and the US look great I'm way more comfortable going ahead and announcing it on Turkey Day.
We plan to get some T-shirts made for him and I to wear and just wait too see how long it takes everybody to notice.....

@rkitty welcome! Whenever I'm hungry I want salty food too, which is weird cause I am a huge sweets person.

Starlitsky: Yes! I was a little hesitant about announcing on Thanksgiving considering I will only be almost 11 weeks. I actually wanted to wait till Christmas, but husband doesn't want to wait that long & Thanksgiving will be the only time the whole family will be together in one place. I am in the same boat, my appointment isn't till the Monday after Thanksgiving.. I also tried to make an appointment earlier, but they didn't have anything open. I'm just going to have good faith that everything is ok.
clementine / 795 posts
@MrsKRB: ahh that makes sense!
@RKitty: welcome!! that's great that you were able to conceive before going through an RE! @brownepiano I read that if you have a salty food craving, it can indicate you're having a boy? hehe just an old wives' tale but will be interesting once you two find out!
@MMcAlli: ah so we are in the same situation! How are you planning to announce at Thanksgiving? We will definitely have to have faith that all is well. although I haven't given up yet on trying to get another ultrasound...
apricot / 341 posts
@Brownepiano Thanks! I'm also a huge sweets person so it's so weird I'm craving salt. Pretzel sticks are my go to snack at the moment.
@Mmcalli Thank you!
@Starlitsky Thanks, I'm glad we also didn't have to go any further then tests too! And I also read about the salty = boys so I'm very curious too! But right now we're not planning to find out the gender so there will be a bit of a wait!
@Mrs Pink I kind of internet stalked you and I think we're both from the Tri-Cities? (let me know and I'll delete this if you want) If so that's exciting such a small world!
clementine / 795 posts
@RKitty: ooh so you're on team green? I definitely can't wait that long to find out! I've been craving both salty and sweet, but a little more salty so we'll see if it holds true for me...
btw just a tip for everyone, you can click on "reply" on each post so you don't have to type out everyone's username, and by doing so it notifies them of your reply via email! Or you can type out the name but make sure it includes the : at the end.
can't believe Thanksgiving is next week! and then December! our first trimester will be over before we know it, ladies!!

@RKitty: Welcome!
I am so excited reading about everyone who is going "public" next week! I can't wait to hear how it goes for all of you!
AFM - we told my DH's parents/sister this past weekend. We will tell my brother when we see him in person at Thanksgiving (after everyone goes home and it is just us immediate family!) Personally, we're waiting until Christmas to tell grandmothers/aunts/uncles/cousins -- Christmas day we will be 14 weeks exactly. I wish I could get it off my chest next week - but just too soon for us.
Right now - I am worrying about getting enough nutrients in my diet. I have my first OB appointment next week and want to ask about taking supplements (especially calcium) and possibly drinking something like ensure to get more protein. I was reading Dr. Luke's book and she suggests about 200g of protein for twins and I have no idea how I'll consume that much just with food!

First child? 2nd, this is oddly enough my second round in the June boards I had a 2012 junebug and this one is a surprise! Just FYI, z-packs really do take the goalie down
First doctor appointment: I had an initial appointment last month, I go back for my first OB appointment & u/s next Monday (11/23).
Any symptoms so far? Being a crazy person? My hormones are out of this world. I wasn't like this last time! DH is convinced it's a girl bc I'm acting cray. I'm also nauseated about 80% of the time, so I'm living off of bagels, cereal and apples. I'm sure my doctor would be SUPER impressed.
Who have you told? Basically everyone but our parents. My girlfriends & coworkers know, but we're going to announce to family on Thanksgiving. Even though it's a surprise baby I know our families are going to be SO excited!

@doodlepoodle: Welcome! That is so neat that you'll have two june babies! Your maternity and baby clothes will all be the same season (if your LO is the same gender or you had gender neutral stuff!)

@RKitty: @doodlepoodle: welcome!
@meadow: I'm not an expert, but I am a dietitian, and 200g of protein seems insane. If you try and get protein in at every meal and snack than I think you will be fine and your body will take care of the rest. Also remember that almost every food contains protein so it adds up quickly!

@starlitsky: I am tied with two ideas. 1.) I wear a shirt that says "thankful" with a arrow pointing at my stomach. 2.) My husband wear a shirt that says "baby daddy". I really need to decide, considering its next week. Do you have any ideas how you are going to announce (if you do)? Thanks for the tip. I am doing it now, helps a lot! I am ready for the end of this trimester. Ready for little kicks & a cute baby bump (instead of bloat)
@RKitty: I have also heard salty = boy. My best friend has a boy & a girl, it was true to her. She craved salty with the boy & sweet with the girl. We will see. I wish I could go team green, I just don't think I have the will power to wait. LOL. It would be exciting though!
@meadow: Christmas announcements are so much fun. I wanted to do ours then, I would have been further along AND I had so many cute ideas on how to announce. But the husband said he just "couldn't" wait.
@doodlepoodle: Welcome & Congratulations.
Super excited for Thanksgiving. I love family time & all the good food. Hoping it'll be a good day & the morning (all day) sickness takes a day off.

I'm so jealous of everyone's announcement plans!! I really want to announce around Thanksgiving when I'm 10 weeks, but trying to respect DH's wishes. Unfortunately m/c's just change the way we approach these things.
I have a work party on 12/10 and I feel like I'll be showing by then at 11.5 weeks since it's my 2nd pregnancy, but I can't say anything since our parents won't know!

@doodlepoodle: OMG!!!!! We get to be Junebug mamas together again! Yay!! Sorry, I know you've got a different name now but you knew I'd pick up on it straightaway! Junebug 2012 and 2016 mamas together! I'm so excited for you!! I think we're going to have the same due date as well, and crazy enough, ours wasn't exactly planned either! Ha! Can't wait to share this crazy experience with you again!

@RKitty: Congrats and welcome!
So exciting to hear how everyone's announcements go next week! We've already told all of our immediate family so now we'll just be sitting on the news until after we have our NT scan at 12-13 weeks. We don't have Thanksgiving here anyway (boo) so we won't be at any big family gatherings until we're home for Christmas anyway.
I finally had my first midwife appt yesterday! No scan but they're using my LMP as my date for now, which puts me at 10w5d, even though I'm pretty sure I'm only 8w3d, but it means I should have my dating scan sooner. They would normally do it at the same time as the NT scan, but I have a feeling that in going by my LMP, my scan will be too early for the NT, so I'll have to go back for another scan a week or two later.
I'm totally bored with the first tri and am so ready to move on. I'm incredibly grateful that it's been easy so far but time just seems to be moving so slowly. And annoyingly enough, my pants are all getting a bit tight already :-(. With my previous two, I avoided maternity clothes until about 24 weeks, I don't think that's going to be the case this time. Boo.

11 weeks today- we had a surprise US yesterday because I went in for a UTI and when I didn't have one they wanted to check on babe because of the cramping and our history-- things were great and baby was moving its arm during the US
My midwife got on me a bit about being fairly dehydrated and uh, I guess she could tell from my sample that I'm not eating enough so I've got to make a plan to get more water and calories in while not getting sick from having a full stomach

@Ree723: I'm ready to get out of the first tri too and tell everyone and wear cute pregnancy clothes! Last time I hid it as long as possible and didn't really talk about it. This time I'm more used to the idea of being pregnant.
I was in regular jeans till 5 months! I'm definitely not going to make it that long this time.
Edit to say, it does feel like it is going faster this time thankfully.

@brownepiano: I never switched out of regular jeans last time- I just stopped buttoning and zipping them and wore a belly band
I am plus sized and so I didn't need to gain much (and didn't, thankfully) but I don't know if that'll happen this time... As my abdomen has started adjusting already- the fullness at the top of my belly was there by 9 weeks... Like my organs shifted? Even though I haven't gained any weight
Our bodies are crazy and amazing lol

@MrsKRB: Thanks for that feedback - I am glad you think its nuts too and that I'm not crazy for finding that number overwhelming! I will ask my OB next week for her advice on what my goal should be.
@MMcAlli: I like the idea of your husband wearing a shirt. I'm also excited for Thanksgiving food - and not feeling bad about eating as much as I want! The past few years I felt like I needed to be more responsible now that my metabolism is slowing in comparison to 10 years ago This year - I will eat all I can stomach
@Mrs. Pink: Yay for the ultrasound - must have been so cool to see the arms moving. At my last scan I was so focused on seeing the heartbeat that I forgot to notice if the little ones were moving at all - though I think they were pretty stationary....
AFM - I am feeling my appetite ramp up this week - which is good. It is a weird feeling to be really hungry at 9:30am after eating breakfast at 6am - hehe. I have one week left on the progesterone from my clinic and I am so pumped to be nearly done with that!

Hey everyone ! Had my NT today and everything looked good! Measured 3 days ahead at 12+2!Baby's got some serious chin action going on! The profile is so different from my daughters!
I'm still nauseous more days than not and its getting really annoying! I thought I'd be in the near by now!

Went for my 12 week appointment and my doctor couldn't find the heartbeat with the fetal monitor. She said that it wasn't a reason to panic because it was still kind of early to hear the heartbeat on the fetal monitor. She gave me a quick ultrasound and we heard the heartbeat AND I saw the baby move its foot! It was the first time I saw the baby looking like an actual baby (could see the head, body and foot), it was so awesome! Was really panicked but then it turned out well.

@runnerd: I feel bad because most of our friends know but my parents don't! My MIL does. I'm not close to my mom, but my Dad and I are super close - but they're separated. My mom is really...selfish...if she finds out that my Dad knew before her she'll guilt me forever. Ugh. OH well.
@Ree723: I KNOW! Can you believe this?! I hope you get a scan soon so you can get a due date set!
I love seeing these u/s pictures...it's getting me more excited for mine on Monday!
