I've been reading up on L&D and my book shows 5 different labor positions like sitting up on a ball etc.
Did you use a labor position other than the standard knees up in bed position?

I laid on my side in a bed or stood in a shower or sat on the toilet during the majority of my labor. An exercise/labor ball was too uncomfortable for me since it pressed up on my groin. Also, being on my hands and knees or laying flat on my back made me want to puke so those options were out.

I REALLY thought I would want a bath or hot shower, but during labor that didn't appeal to me at all. I spent time transitioning between the ball, the bed, walking or leaning over a counter. It really helped to hold my husbands hand/arm through contractions and just slowly count.

I went into labor assuming I'd use a position I learned about in our childbirth class. At the time it seemed like the most comfortable. But, when the active labor struck- all bets were off. I just went with whatever worked at that time. I think you have to be flexible. And even when you don't think you can move because you're in pain, try it. I found that I had to keep changing positions.
