DD (15 months, 20lbs, 29 inches tall) keeps leaking through diapers. She has leaked through a diaper during two naps in the past two weeks (changed right before she goes down) and leaks through her diaper almost every night. She wears size 3 during the day, Target brand, so I think I am just going to attribute those leaks to the changes they made recently. She was wearing Pampers overnights size 3, so we changed those to 4 last night and she was soaked this morning. So it doesn't seem like a size thing. I am planning on eliminating water two hours before bed. Any other suggestions on how to stop the leaks?

We use sposie diaper liners at night- they solved leaking for us for at least 12 hours.

We were having issues with overnight leaks, too, but have only had leaks 1-2 nights out of the last month (instead of per week) by using Huggies Overnites in her same size.

@GoGoSnoGirl: Where were the diapers leaking? DD's is leaking at the waist but dry at the legs.

@ms. rv my son is a similar age and size (almost 15 mos, 21 lb, 31 in) and he has been wearing size 4 during the day for months and size 5 at night. Maybe try going up a size?

@MrsADS: We are trying another size 4 tonight and no fluids two hours before bed. It looks so huge and is gapping everywhere.
I think part of the problem is how she sleeps... on her belly with her bum in the air.

@Ms. RV: try pulling it up a lot higher in front. Sposies really work. At her size, my LO was in size 4s easily. Now my magic combo is Huggies overnights plus a sposie. My LO is a water fiend.

@Ms. RV: my DD will wet the bed when she sleeps like that too. Does she sleep in a onesie? I had her sleeping in onesies because they held the diaper in place better.

@Ms. RV: DS was also having problems with wetting overnight, and always at the waist! I just decided I was going to try every type of diaper until I found one that worked! Turns out to be the Huggies for little Movers? I can't remover the exact name but it's the one specificly for crawler and walkers. I think they just fit him better in certain spots. We switched 2 weeks ago and zero leaks since!

You definitely need at least size 4s during the day. Could do 5s at night and for naps. My LO is 20 months and is in 5s and we recently started using overnights at night which has really helped. It's not my preferred brand, but I'd rather that instead of a wet screaming toddler!

@sapphire: Is it more of an age thing that she needs a 4? She is very short for her age and below the recommended weight for size 4 but even Pampers size calculator is telling me use 4s.

We've had good luck with the Target brand Up&Up Overnights and DS is always super full in the mornings. Pampers hasn't seemed to hold as well.

@Ms. RV: We had this same problem with our DD who sleeps belly down, behind in the air. We went up a size in Huggies overnight diapers and added a disposable diaper doubler in the front (but make sure it's completely tucked inside the diaper, not sticking out the top, or it leaks ALL over).

@ms. rv for what it's worth, we always had to size up before LO reached the beginning weight for the next size. (like if size 4 starts at 22 lbs, he was in size 4's at 19 lbs, etc.) We didn't do it based on size, but we found we started to have some leaks at that point.

@Ms. RV: I've never found the weight ranges to be accurate. Our size 5s say 27+ but LO has been in them for many months and she still only weighs 26. I switch when there is leaking.

LO sleeps on her tummy a lot, so often at the waist in front, but also at the leg sometimes & occasionally up the back.

My ten month old is a bit bigger, but she's been in fours since five months. I think she was 19lbs and 29" when we moved up.
Definitely size up.
