I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and felt like some of my contractions today were painful, but that's nothing new. I'm noticing spotting, though, and it made me think about how they're always asking me if I've seen any spotting/bleeding. If you had a low-lying placenta or placenta previa, how much spotting or bleeding would it take for you to call the OB?
(I know what their answer is going to be - go to triage! They're already upset that MFM isn't seeing me sooner.)

I had a low lying placenta that I didn't know about. I guess it resolved itself by 35 weeks. Anyways I always called when I had spotting. Just because I was a baby. But the spotting I was having was a lot. TMI but it was not mucusy, it was almost like blood dripping.

It wouldn't take much for me! I would just call and they can give you an idea about how much would be worrisome.

My OB always said to call with any amount of blood at all.

They told me at every appointment before 36 weeks that I was to call if I had ANY bleeding. After 36 weeks only if it was enough to be "like a period." At 33 weeks, I'd call to be safe.

Not much I would call at this stage with any spotting it never hurts to see what's going on.

@spaniellove: I had previa but it corrected itself. My protocol was and is to call for any spotting, regardless of amount.

Yup, my doc made me call with any bleeding. Hope everything is OK!

@raintreebee: They considered triage, and then decided since the spotting stopped I should go if it got worse or I had new symptoms. Avoided triage this time!
