My NT scan is on Sept 4th but I'm thinking about skipping it this time. With N the results came back abnormal and they scared the shit out of me for a .005% increase in N's chance of having Down syndrome. Mathematically the percentage stayed the same! They sent me to a genetic specialist and we had extra scans all for, really, no reason except to bill my insurance some more. Since termination would never be an option, I see no point in doing in except to see my little bean again. Anyone else ever skip the NT scan?

Actually I'm going to post that as a new thread on the boards as I want to get everyone's opinion and not jack this thread with my rant about doctors and insurance companies being in cahoots. This should be about March mama's exciting appts!!

Ok...I finally had my appointment yesterday! Lots of info and they have big plans for me. They want to see me every 3 weeks instead of 4, but I had to schedule for 4 weeks because they were really booked the week of labor day.
No ultrasound, but I get one when I go back the 13th...and many times after that.
Because of all of S's history (big baby, shoulders stuck, stillborn), I was told that if by 39 weeks, if I don't go into labor on my own, they're recommending a section. A year ago I would have scoffed at this and ran, but I think I'm going to come to terms with it. After all, at this point my only concern is bringing a healthy baby home with me at the end of it all. I am thinking, though, that maybe I can get them to induce me at 38 weeks, if my cervix is looking favorable. An induction at 38 weeks sounds better to me than a section at 39.
I'm already being pegged for GD. I don't take an official test until 20 weeks, but I've been told to eat and act as if I know I have it. He did take one blood draw for me, to see where I was at the moment with it.
My due date at the moment is still April 6, but they'll date it better at the ultrasound. This is now more important than ever, since I have that 39 week deadline.
So, next appointment is September 13th, and it's a long one!

I had my appointment today! 8 weeks 6 days. HB was 176. Here is baby! Not sure what's up with the date being so many years back, but whatever

@Bao: yayyyy so exciting! funny about the date! haha. glad everything is going well! how are you feeling? has the spotting and cramps stopped for you?
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: @Mrsjets: thanks guys! The spotting has thankfully stopped, the cramping too. I forgot to ask if I'm off pelvic rest though. All is well besides the nausea and exhaustion.

@Bao: that's great!
I got my appt for my 12 week scan moved up to Sept 5th! Only 4 days earlier, but I wanted to have it before that weekend so we can plan to tell a few people if it all goes well! I should be 12 weeks 1-2 days at that point

My next appt is Monday and they say we will get to hear the heartbeat. I hope it's true!! I will be 10 weeks, 2 days.

Just got back from my 8 week appt. HB was 171, and everything is right on track! Everything looks so different from just a week and a half ago.

I posted this on the main board, but I keep forgetting about this one! Sorry for the repost, but I'm just so excited!
Yesterday was our first appointment! We were so happy when we got to see the little bean and hear the heart beat, and of course I got all teary. Heart rate is strong (167!) and he said all looks well. I'm still measuring on target for 8 weeks today with a due date of 3/27.
I really liked my OB and his staff were all great. The only hiccup was that after they drew all my blood I got lightheaded and passed out. Luckily the nurses were wonderful and I'm feeling just fine now. Silver lining: I got apple juice and chocolate out of the deal!

@fussygal: best.sound.ever! Glad baby is doing good I was super close to blacking out at my blood draw too. So embarrassing!

@futuremama: oh did you get an u/s at both?! It really is crazy how fast they grow!

@Mrsjets: yes, my last two pregnancies ended in early looses, so they're keeping an eye on everything this time. I have another appt on 9/3 with a regular ob. I'm not sure if they'll do another scan or not.

I have my NT scan tmrw! I am so so so so nervous. Ah. I haven't had a lot of symptoms, but my US at 7 weeks was fine. I'm sure everything is ok, right?! GAH.

@Mrs. Champagne: I'm sure it is! I went through the same exact thing, I've started feeling better here and there, and haven't felt pregnant nearly as much as earlier. And the worry set in like crazy!
It will be a huge relief to see the baby dancing around and a nice strong beating heart! After this u/s, you will start to feel more pregnant and even start feeling the baby, and that is a huge reassurance. The worry never goes away completely, but you start to find ways to reassure yourself.
Hope you have a great appointment!

@lemondrop: ah thanks!! i hope it all goes well! i'm having what I think is RLP at some moments, so I think that's a good sign! I'll update tmrw afternoon!!

@Mrs. Champagne: I was nervous too! But it is soo reassuring once you see that baby flipping around and waving! It's so very neat. I think you will feel a ton better tomorrow. Enjoy!

Eeeeee! Everything went great. Measuring right on track! I also have been having some weird pressure down below so she checked my cervix and said "it's nice and long and closed"
Soooo relieved!

@Mrs. Champagne: What week are you? I get my first ultrasound at 10w 5d...but it's not the NT test, so I guess I'll get another one soon after that, since I'm assuming I'll be too early for it.

I had my NT this morning and it went really, really well!!!
Baby had the hiccups so it was bouncing around like a Mexican Jumping Bean. The neck and nasal scan went well. The last marker is blood they took today and will compare to four weeks from now. Good heartbeat (163) brain looks good... and we got the ok to tell people!! Ah!
