After doing the research on our options my husband and I decided we would like to have a cell-free fetal dna test like Materniti21 done and skip the nuchal translucency screening. We knew going in that our insurance might not cover it but we were willing to pay out of pocket. Come to find out, the lab reserves the right to refuse to run the test if you don't have enough risk factors. I am appalled that the lab can simply refuse to run the test even though we are willing to pay and our doctor agrees it would be a good idea, not to mention the fact that the New England Journal of Medicine agrees it is a good idea. Has anyone else run into this? I don't even know how to get around it since all of the practices I am familiar with in the area use this lab.
