Has anyone successfully found a warm maternity coat??
I have been looking for months for a maternity coat, since I keep hearing it is going to be a nasty winter. I'm 22 weeks and just about to the end of my days in my North Face puffer and panicking that I can't find anything warm that will give me anything more than a few more weeks. I tried my husband's ski jacket and it is laughably enormous and one from Destination Maternity that is terrible. Anyone find success??

Could you buy a larger size in regular women's jacket? Or layer a little more to bundle up then wear your regular jacket unzipped?

Honestly, I would borrow one or look at consignment stores if that is an option. I borrowed a puffer from the Gap that was just okay, so I am glad I didn't have to spend $ on it.
You may be surprised at how far your current wardrobe stretches as well... I delivered at the end of January and wore my LL Bean puffer the entire pregnancy. And I was all belly - I have no idea how that coat fit, but it did!

I just can't bear the idea of spending money on one so I'm making do with my two jackets. I saw one on Gilt yesterday that looked cute from JoJo Maman Bebe but it was pricey! Otherwise, there have been a couple cute options that I have seen on ASOS.

@Alivoo01: thats what I did in the Gap one, but I dont know if its worth keeping for just a little while. I guess I could wear it unzipped... that just seems cold!

@HazelEyes: Post a LOOKING ad in the Classifieds and see if one of the other mommas have a maternity jacket they're wanting to get rid of! I know one momma had a really nice looking peacoat one that she sold for a steal last year!

I can't zip up any of my winter jackets (some are tailored slim, others just remind me that my waist went from hourglass to beach ball), so I was on the hunt, too, and didn't want to look like a short, puffy marshmallow. I am very warm in this one, and while the pockets being up toward my belly bugged me at first, I like it now to feel LO kick and move.

i haven't bought a big coat, but i did get a zip up maternity hoodie from old navy that i've been layering under other things for now.

I wasn't able to find a maternity jacket I loved, so I just bought a regular puffy jacket in one size larger. The sleeves were a little long but I was able to zip it up just fine!

I've been wearing regular coats unzipped because I don't want to spend the money on a maternity coat to just wear until the end of January. Not ideal... but trying to make it work. Maybe I'll just hibernate until Jan lol

@indi: that is cute... I wasn't really looking at the wool ones, thinking they wouldnt be warm enough, but maybe that's where I need to go. I like that the bottom can just stay open. hmm...

I got one from old navy, a puffer one, when it was 40% off then another 30% i think? for $35...it's a one season wear

I got a warm puffy one with a hood from Walmart.com. It was super cheap and decent quality. I ordered alot of basicis from them. I couldn't justify spending a lot on stuff I'd only wear a short time.

I bought a pea coat that ties in the front, so even though the buttons don't close, I can stil tie the front up. Plus it'll be super cute next year when I'm not preggo!

@HazelEyes: Not sure where you're living/climate, but it's held me through a few 12 degree days already. Definitely not the Northface/Columbia stuff I need up here, but it's been a reasonable alternative thus far.

I also broke down and bought and Old Navy Puffer coat. I'm at about 32 weeks and still have room and it doesn't look ginormous on me. I got it one size bigger than my pre preg size based on reviews. I get for about $35 because of an Old navy discount.

I was due in April, and got by with my regular coats and my husbands fleece jacket toward the end. I stopped caring what I looked like by the time I was too big for mine! Most days I just wore things unzipped, with a scarf. I was able to get pretty far with stretching things over my belly.

I bought one on ebay - it's wool mix and red so bonus points for being festive. It got it's previous owner mama through two winter pregnancies and is still in good shape. I'm really happy I bought it. I was doing the unzipped + scarf thing but it quickly became apparent that wasn't going to cut it with the New England Winter rapidly approaching! (It was a Target coat originally I think.)
