I am going to be 5-7 months pregnant during the summer and I am wondering if I can wear regular, non-maternity maxi dresses and still have them look right. Will they fit funny if they are not maternity? Same question for empire waist shorter dresses.
I saw this one and I want the navy one.

I was also hoping to wear my normal dresses because they're flowy and loose on the belly, but what I didn't realize was that my boobs would grow huge too. So none of my dresses fit

It depends on the material. I had a pre-pregnancy maxi dress that I also wore while I was pregnant. It was super stretchy so it worked. I think shorter dresses would be hit or miss. Your belly is going to fill the front of the dress and make it shorter in the front. I would definitely be careful about that so you don't flash anyone!

Mine still fit! I'm due June 20th. Though like @artbee said, the tops may get too tight. Thankfully mine are still okay, even though they're more snug.

Some women totally pull off the maxi dress while really pregnant look ... I just looked like a house when I tried it

I wore a few of my pre-pregnancy maxi dresses around the 6-7 month mark and they worked fine. Now that I'm a lot bigger, though, they just look really short and awkward. I'm 5'8, so I guess that might have something to do with it - like, pre-pregnancy most maxi dresses fit me just perfectly with not a lot of length to spare.

I'm due any time now, and I have several maxi dresses that I bought for nursing and they fit NOW, so.... yes. 
ETA: Mine are all knee length dresses though, so they still look cute.

I loved wearing maternity and non-maternity maxi dresses during the first two trimesters of my first pregnancy! BUT once my belly got bigger the material around the waist would really be stretched, so from the back my back fat and muffin top over my underwear waistband would show, so I stopped wearing them.

None of my maxi dresses look right on me and I'm 28 weeks pregnant. They're way too short in the front and it looks funny cause you can totally see my shoes. Might depend on the cut of the dress though.

I bought a regular maxi dress recently because none of my maternity clothes fit anymore. It's made of a jersey material and is quite fantastic. It doesn't ride up in the front and I think it looks quite cute. The key is finding one that is really long and stretchy, Imo. Plus, buy a size up. You'll want the extra room.

I've found that Long maxi dresses made from jersey will probably work. But, I've purposely stayed away from non-maternity short maxi dresses because I figured as belly gets bigger, the shorter the dress will get!
My problem is finding a maxi dress that is just the right length! I'm almost 5'8" and most of the dresses are just an inch too short for my tastes!

I wore regular maxi dresses all summer! I gave birth in september so I was desperate during those hot months. Maxi dresses were my go to. Check out target they usually have cute ones and cheap!

I was due last July and wore regular non maternity maxi dresses all the way until liv was born. I did have a few maternity ones, but they made me look humungous. Oddly enough, I can wear those ones now without the belly and they look totally normal lol. I got a bunch at Target, they have some great ones

I had the same problem with PP's, a lot of my dresses stopped fitting my chest. But my maxi dress looked great and it was soo stinkin comfortable. I was pregnant over the winter, so I didn't wear it a lot but I wore it to a wedding and got SO MANY compliments on it.
I love the maxi dress you linked to - gorgeous! and it looks like the boob area has room to grow, you could always just pair with a tank if they get too large. It also looks like it'd work well for nursing!

I got it at kohls last summer and it has been my favorite clothing item to date. Comfy, roomy, stretchy and long enough for my 5'8 body!
@meredithNYC: me too! I'm 5'8. So sometimes maxi dresses are ankle length. But you're right, there is that one awkward length that doesn't quite work.

I am in the same boat, but I think my belly will be sticking out too far causing the dress to go to far up in the front. I just got a maternity one from target, and I think I'll probably wear it afterwards too, not much different just a little more length in front that isn't super noticeable! .

I'm not pregnant but I just bought the cutest maxi dress for a wedding this weekend! The I tried it on for my husband and he commented that people might wonder if I'm preggers... GAHH! :T

All of my maxi dresses still fit (I'm 32 weeks today!). The only issue is I look boobalicious in some of the strapless ones.

@JessLC: I'm getting by with non-maternity dresses, but only the ones with smocking in the bust. Super comfortable. I'm 27 weeks.

thanks to all you ladies for the input! i'm average height...5'5" so hopefully the length won't be an issue. will check out target since there were a couple recs on here!
