You are so early still, and I think its hard to get exact measurements. If you OB isn't worried, then I would try not to be worried, either. The heartbeat seems great. And you are really just talking about a few days difference. Just try not to be concerned at this point. I was measuring like 5 days behind what I thought I should have been at my first OB intake appointment at around 7 weeks, too. I also only BDed one time. Try not to look for reasons to worry. Easier said than done, I know!! Best of luck! When can you get in for another ultrasound?

@skinnycow: I'm glad you get to go back in soon-ish. That is just a little over a week and you will be able to see a good strong growing baby. Quit trying to calculate dates. I tried to do this for like 3 hours the other night and I drove myself insane. And some babies are just small. My sister measured a week or so behind with my niece throughout her entire pregnancy and that was an IVF pregnancy so dates should have been exact. The baby was just small. Some babies are like that. Keep thinking positively!

I’ve had it go both ways. I measured quite a bit behind with my daughter - I believe I was lmp about 8w and I thought 7w2d or something and she measured 6w5d. Two weeks later she was completely “caught up” or even ahead.
My last pregnancy I measured a few days behind where I thought I should be and I lost it later, but don’t know if that was chance or indicative.

I do think there’s just error at that point, even if you had confirmed with opks or temping. Fx that baby is working on catching up right now

I was about 4-5 days behind at that point with both of my daughters. The first time I freaked out because I had recently had a miscarriage and was technically a day behind the margin of error based on the last day I possibly could have conceived. But by the end of the first trimester she caught up and is now a spirited 2.5 year old. Similar thing happened with her 9 week old sister, although I wasn't tracking as closely. Hope you can stay calm and get reassuring news in a few weeks

I measured a week behind at my first US with DD1...I was so upset bc I literally DTD one time that cycle (international work trip took up the rest of it) so I was sure of our conception date...I was sure something was wrong...

She is now a happy and healthy 4 year old...

Even if you know exactly when you ovulated, implantation can take anywhere from like 5 to 12 days. That's why doctors usually say anything within about a week of what you expect is likely fine.

My daughter measured 6 days behind at that first ultrasound and I was fairly confident about my dates (was charting religiously, took opk's, etc.). My doc said I must have been off with my dates but their dates didn't really jive with when I got my positive HPT (it would have been 5 days after I ovulated). I tried not to get too hung up on it and my daughter continued to track on their adjusted due date during the first trimester and then was eventually measuring a week ahead in the second and third. She ended up being induced the day before the adjusted due date. I really think my dates were right and that for some reason she was just a slow starter. I'd try not to let it worry you. The doc I saw after that first ultrasound said she would give me a 50% chance of the pregnancy being viable. Well, it was and in 14 days, she turns one!

One more positive story to add to the bunch: My now 3 yo LO measured 10 days behind at 6 weeks, and I was sure about dates since we had only BD'd once. She stayed measuring about a week behind throughout the pregnancy, and we moved my EDD a few times. And...she's perfectly healthy and still short

I measured almost three week behind based on my LMP. Turns out my cycles are really long, and I ovulate later than normal.

I'm almost 37 weeks pregnant now, and everything's fine! It was a bit scary at the beginning, but after my doctor adjusted my due date, baby's been measuring perfectly every appointment.

At our first ultrasound, we measured about 6 days-week behind. She kept measuring and decided that baby was on the cusp and they wouldn't adjust my due date from LMP. We were charting and I suspect the later due date would have been more accurate. We're 30 weeks along now and she's measuring in the 6% percentile. DH and I were small kids, so I'm not surprised, but I keep wondering if they'd have adjusted her due date back later how she'd compare. We're labeled IUGR now and go for weekly monitoring; everything is healthy, just small. We'll have to wait and see when she makes her appearance!
