I just has my appt at 26 weeks and I'm measuring ahead at 30 weeks. The doctor scheduled an ultrasound to check on things. I'm going tomorrow morning, but I'm concerned. Anyone have any experience with this?

I don't have any experience with this, but they probably want to do an ultrasound to verify if the baby is measuring large and potentially move your due date up if you're further along than they realized.
They did this with my friend a couple times - she was measuring large and they moved her due date up by a couple weeks (and then she ended up being induced around her due date and had a very normal sized baby), so it's not always exact!
Good luck to you!

I measured ahead my entire pregnancy. My daughter did end up being large at 10lbs8oz but I still delivered her vaginally with little complication due to her size. They didn't move my due date or induce me early, I went until 40+4 when my water broke.

This happened to me around week 34 (I was only measuring a week or two ahead).
Sure enough at 34 weeks, my daughter was measuring at almost 40 weeks plus a lot of fluid. They estimated her at that point to be 8lbs 13 ounces.
They offered me the option for a c-section (this was my first birth). After lots of thinking about it, I decided I really wanted to at least TRY to birth naturally. I think they offered the c-section because it is easier for them to schedule, they get more money, and there is less risk for suing if baby gets harmed in delivery (although I think I did a fair amount of research and LGA does NOT link to higher rates of shoulder distrotia).
I ended up compromising a bit. Even though I was not progressing at all, I was induced at 39.5 weeks. She was born naturally at 9lbs 7 ounces.

@Adira: Most often, they will not move the due date from your first trimester ultrasound date. Ultrasounds after the first trimester aren't as accurate for dating.

@Thehistoryofus: Oh, I didn't know that. I didn't get all the details from my friend's pregnancy - just that she was measuring large and they moved her due date a couple times on her, but that might have all been in the first trimester - I'm not sure.

@Kffw: I wouldn't be concerned about it. They probably just want to check what's causing you to measure ahead (large baby, lots of fluid, etc).

I think the measurements can change from week to week based on baby's position and other factors. I think that when I was 28 weeks I measured a couple weeks ahead and by the next appointment at 30 weeks I was on target. I stopped asking for the exact measurements because I feel like it doesn't really matter very much. The doctors don't necessarily have a sense if the baby is big or small. We were sent for an ultrasound at 32 weeks because my blood pressure was borderline high for several weeks and they were concerned baby was not growing enough (despite measuring fine at that point) and then he measured on the large size. I've also read that ultrasound weight estimates can be off as much as a pound or two in either direction.

I also measured big. They did an ultrasound and it showed that she was big but not so big that I'd have to have a c-section. She was 8 lb 13 oz, born on her due date.

I measured big with both of my babies. My DD was measuring somewhere between two and three weeks bigger than she should have. I remember getting a sonogram like five weeks before my due date, just to see if everything was normal. However, sonograms this late are hard to get accurate measurements because the baby is so squished. My doc didn't do anything about it, I still went past my due date and she was a healthy 9lbs 6oz baby.
With my DS, he was measuring large again. This doc (we moved) was convinced I had gestational diabetes, though I didn't. She made me get the three hour test (she wanted me to do it twice! but I refused) and I just said i would rather follow the diabetes diet. He was born two weeks and six days early and weighed 7lbs 13 oz (pretty big for three weeks early!)
I wouldn't let it get you upset. You might just make big babies! Are you or DH tall? That can be part of it too!

Thanks for the info ladies. I will let you know what we find out.
@mamabehr: We are not tall. I'm 5'4" and DH is 5'11" but the men on my side of the family are tall and were really big babies (10 and 11 lbs!). Not sure if that would impact our baby though. I can't say I'm surprised to be big because Ive felt big all along. I grew out of my pants by 13 weeks and popped shortly thereafter! I felt movement early too (15 weeks)!

I measured ahead and gave birth 2 weeks early (well, 3 weeks, if you go by what I think was conception date).

I measured big at my last appointment (31 weeks). I was sent for a growth ultrasound and hes predicted to be 4.5 lbs already.
They have me coming back at 36 weeks for a second ultrasound to determine if a csection or induction is necessary.

@Kffw: Genetics does play a part. My DH and I are pretty agerage height, 5'7 and 5'11, but I was a large baby at 9lbs14oz, so I knew she was probably big. I was in maternity pants by 12 weeks too.

I measured large! About 3 wks ahead. They even estimated DD to be close to 9 or 10 lbs at delivery and were thinking a C-section. She was 7
