I've read that morning sickness/nausea and gender are related in that women carrying girls are more likely to have worse morning sickness/nausea due to increased estrogen. Just wondering if this is/was true for y'all?

I was horribly sick from 6 to about 18 weeks and I'm having a girl, so it was true for me!!

I had horrible nausea from week 6-15 for my first and I had a girl. I had no nausea until week 13 (still going at week 26) for this pregnancy and I am having a girl!

@lawbee11: I had one day of gagging when I brushed my teeth and nothing other than that!

@lawbee11: The old wives tale that is most consistent it seems (not perfect!) is the heart rate one...H's heartbeat was in the 160s/170s my whole first and second tri:)

I was sick all the way through to the end and had a boy.
@PrincessBaby: At our first ultrasound E's heart rate was in the 170s but every reading after that was between 130-140.

@PrincessBaby: OK glad my chances of a girl aren't out the window (I've thrown up once, but other than that it hasn't been too bad). Of course I'd be thrilled with a boy, too, but I really want an excuse to buy that tutu!

I didn't have hardly any but one of my best friends was so sick she couldn't leave the house and eventually got a prescription to help with the nausea. We both had boys.
Also, she stayed thin and active and healthy, good hair and skin. I was fugly, swollen, hot mess. So none of that "girls steal your beauty" business either.
@PrincessBaby: DS's heart was consistently 160/170s. My mom said she was told I was a boy and my brother was a girl (haha I loved when she told us this story) based on the heart rate, so maybe it's just how it is in our family?

So far, I haven't had any morning sickness (just nausea when I'm hungry or eat way too much) and the baby's heart rate has been below 160 so I'm guessing based upon old wives tales, I'm having a boy. Plus, my instincts tell me I'm having a boy too. Should be interesting to see what the ultrasound shows in a few weeks!

Absolutely zero morning sickness and I had a girl. Her heartbeat was also consistently in the low 140s, which should have indicated a boy. I also never swelled or had my 'looks stolen', and my linea nigra said boy too - so clearly none of the old wives tales were true for me!

True for me, with DS I was not nauseous once- I felt great! With DD I threw up multiple times a day for the first 3/4 months.

But, the heart rate was opposite- so that wasn't true for either babies. I did carry differently and have different cravings though!

I'm having a boy and I threw up until 20 weeks and was sooooo sick all the time. Oh and his heart rate has always been high so that wives tale didn't work either.

I had a lot of nausea during the first trimester. Also, the baby's heartbeat was always very high (150-160s until about 36 weeks when it slowed down a bit). We had a boy!

I'm a little jealous of those who had little to no morning sickness, with either gender.

I took Zofran for weeks b/c my morning sickness was awful, and I'm having boys. I've heard multiples make it worse, though, so I'm not sure my experience is reliable. For the record though, the boys heartbeats have almost always been in the 140s-150s, which I think is at least fairly consistent with the wives' tales about heartbeat & gender.

Symptoms were the same for both.. No ms just some nausea. Had one of each!

20 weeks of morning sickness for my sweet little girl. Her heart rate was allllll over the place though. Any where from low 130s to high 160s.

I'm having a girl and have barely had morning sickness at all! But, who knows, maybe I'll get it third tri?

I had a similar level of nausea (bearable but not nonexistent) for both my kids (boy and girl). If anything, slightly less for my girl. So I think it's an old wives tale!

So sick from 7 weeks into the 20 week mark (less throwing up after 15 weeks). Heart rates in the 160's and I had a boy.
My MIL was sick the whole time with both my husband and SIL, and my mom was sick for a week with my brother and myself. I really don't buy into the old wives tales, I think it is how YOU react to pregnancy.

I had pretty average morning sickness lasting until about 18 weeks. I have a boy. For me, my skin maintained and didn't break out. That was my first indication that I was having a boy. I had the strongest feeling he's a boy and I was right.

Just like @sslm I was sick 6 to 18 weeks and the u/s says it's a girl (I'm 21 weeks now).
My skin is a warzone, also.

I actually read a book about the science of pregnancy and it said the best way to tell was if your boobs got really big. If yes, girl, if not, boy but idk how accurate that is either.

I had morning (read: all day) sickness from week 6 to week 17. Lots of nausea and a fair amount of vomiting. I'm having a girl!
