oyy. i heard from my brother that it's like 96+ in the city... i can't imagine having to walk around in that, let alone pregnant!!
hope you can cool off asap!

LOL Just be happy you're not down south right now. It's a "cool" 93 today (which is a change from the 100+ temps we had the past few weeks)

I can't wait until Wednesday when it is supposed to "feel like 104"
@babyboecksmom true...BUT I have to walk to the subway and then have a 50/50 chance of getting on a subway car with no AC

@MrsClownfish: I'm not pregnant but I'm sitting my butt in front of the A/C all day. Too hot and humid. And the subway is like hot garbage death in the summer. Yuck.

I'm only 16 weeks, but yea, it's brutal. every time i walk by a woman in her 3rd tri my heart goes out to her (i may have given you a look of sympathy this past week!) yesterday it felt like 108! i left the house for 10 minutes, walked one avenue and back. that was more than enough!

Im not even pregnant and its miserable here. I was in a wedding on Saturday and we took pics at the Public Library on the steps. We were out there for literally less than 10 minutes and were all sweating like pigs. Its so gross

It's really hot in the UK right now, too! The sun is beating down and I'm loving it!! People keep asking if I'm suffering (I'm 37 weeks) but I'm in my element!! It helps that I'm now on maternity leave - I wouldn't like being at work in it.

@MrsClownfish: Oh no! I didn't realize the subway cars didn't have a/c - that sucks!

For real, going out for walks with the baby has not been fun, but I need some exercise!! Hang in there!!

Oh no! I gave birth in early July in NYC.... The heat can really suck up all your energy and dehydrate you quick! Hang in there!

We spent the weekend at the shore so the heat didn't bother me, but yes it's definitely hot as f%&k here. This morning waiting for the subway was a nightmare. We just barely missed the express and the next train took 3 whole minutes to arrive! Waiting 3 minutes in what feels like 125 degree sweltering heat dressed in work clothes is a nightmare. Thank GOODNESS our subway at least had AC, but of course no one offered me a seat
I always make sure to bring a snack and a bottle of water with me everywhere though. We should all be doing this, it is a lifesaver!

I am getting really f-ing sick of seeing thunderbolts on my iphone forecast.. that means even if the 'high' is under 80, it's going to feel like 100 due to the humidity. It is seriously the longest stretch of humid weather we've had in a really lon gtime!
pear / 1672 posts
Yeah. It's been brutal the past few days. Is it better today? I haven't been out yet. I think this is a good excuse for ice cream.

It's super hot in Boston, too, though I do hear NYC is even hotter. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and just move like molasses in this heat. Waiting for the train is brutal, though there is one spot with a giant fan that I just position myself in front of! Only 6 more days of work though, I can get through it!
@mrsjazz: "And the subway is like hot garbage death in the summer. " Best description of the subway in the summer ever.

I moved to the burbs last year. Hate working in the neighborhood around Penn Station but love that it saves me a trip on the subway! Definitely feeling for you.

YUp, pretty uncomfortable around these parts...I think we'll head to a sprinkler park this afternoon!@BabyBoecksMom: some cars do but some don't...you can always tell the ones that don't because they're usually the only ones with seats available!@Modern Daisy: that is awful--I would shove my belly into people's faces and sigh REALLY loudly.
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@BKCaribBaby: it's not nearly as bad today! still humid as anything, but compared to this weekend it actually feels bearable out there.
Seriously though, is it september yet?

Try living in the south... hot AND humid as hell. Makes you question reality.

Our weather is like that here & its muggy as hell! I sympathize with you. I'm only 10+4 & its kicking my bum. I think a DQ blizzard is in order today.

It's a balmy 83 here in paradise. (Yes, I'm gloating. My state gets perpetually bashed, but the fact is that we've got better weather than just about anywhere else in the U.S. right now and for most of the rest of the year. So I feel justified in noting that 1) it's fairly pleasant to be outside now, and 2) our outside features a turquoise blue ocean.)
But in case there are any prospective snowbirds reading: It is just as horrible as you think it is here in July. It's unbearably hot and humid and you might melt if you step outside. The sidewalk is sizzling and you could fry an egg on my dashboard. It's like this most of the year. Also, we have alligators on the land and sharks in the water. Stay away! Save yourselves!

@Pirouette: Good to know. I'm saving my walk for late this afternoon/early evening.

My commute on the subway this morning turned my crisply dry-cleaned shirt into a damp rag by the time I got to work. Definitely too hot.

It was 95 with humidity in the 80% today!! People think minnesota is a frozen tundra but our summers are insane!

I try to avoid standing on the platform too long. I downloaded the embark app and get to the platform 2 mins early. It's really a life saver when it's hot and smelly.

It's super hot and muggy in Toronto...and a storm knocked our power out 3 hours ago. Apparently they're not expecting it back on till tomorrow bc it's too dark!

@MrsClownfish: Sorry! I feel your pain. I'm not pregnant, but the subways are definitely a crapshoot as to if you'll be lucky enough to get an air-conditioned car. It even feels like some businesses are skimping on the a/c right now. Dinner on Sat. night was hot and muggy - not fun!!!
cherry / 119 posts
Sorry for being so late to the party.. but this post just made me spit out my ginger tea LAUGHING! LMAO
It sure is hot!

This video captures how I feel about this heat (NSFW because of cursing/language!) But this lady says "the devil is sitting his ass crack on earth" haha.

Yes, this weather is brutal. This is the ONLY benefit to having miscarried in January. I would have been due in August, ack! February is much better.
grapefruit / 4671 posts
@mrsjazz: that video totally made my day. Roasting over here, so over this, NYC heat always feels worse.
