I'm scared of this too. I don't plan on number two for a while, but as it is the hospital is a good 30-45 min away. But I loved my experience and the doctors so I would take chance. My labor for LO 1 was only 2 hours. I'll just have to high tail it to the hospital at any sign of labor!

I don't know, this is a tough one! I live in the same city as you so definitely understand as we live out in the 'burbs but I work in the city. I chose an OB and hospital 5 minutes from our house, but if I had a great experience with my first LO and loved my OB then I'd be really tempted to just do the same for LO2. I was really worried about not making it to the hospital in time which is why I chose a doctor and hospital close to our house, but I was in labor for 20 hours so I totally could've gone with someone in the medical center (though I still had a great experience).

I was in a similar situation. When I had LO1, I gave birth in a large med center hospital. When I was 20 weeks pregnant with LO2, we moved to the suburbs.

I kept my med center OB and hospital because I had a fantastic experience when LO1 was born and I did not want to gamble on finding an OB or suburban hospital that I wasn't as comfortable with.

My OB advised me to call sooner rather than later when I was in labor (or suspected I was in labor) and to let the on-call physician know this was my second baby and I lived in xyz suburb so they would have all the information they needed to advise me on when to go to the hospital.

My water broke on a Sunday, and the on-call OB told me to go to the hospital (even though I wasn't contracting at that time). We drove to the med center and we were only at the hospital 3-4 hours when LO2 was born.

I was in labor with LO1 for 30 hours. I was in labor with LO2 for 5 hours.

I switched for similar reasons and regretted it!
