@hilsy85: I saw the first link first and thought wow those are beautiful, love the lifestyle look....but then I clicked the second one and my jaw just dropped, the photos are just so breathtakingly gorgeous. like @Mrs. Pickle said, I don't think you can go wrong with either!
@Mrs. Goose: my sleep is AWFUL. I toss and turn forever trying to get comfortable.

@hilsy85: I'd go with the 2nd and say you want more lifestyle stuff than set up poses. She definitely does it, just has the styled/posed mixed into her portfolio.
grapefruit / 4455 posts
@hilsy85: I actually like the second more. But the way I see it I will take a million pictures of baby at our home doing all.those things but I'd never be able to do anything close to the second ones. And in theend even "lifestyle" ones are kind of posed. It's not that the first ones weren't also beautiful though!

@NovBaby1112: @birdofafeather: @2littlepumpkins: @Mrs. Pickle: thanks ladies...I'll talk it over with DH. I'm just hesitant because the 2nd ones style seems so over the top--I'm sure she can do more simple things, but she's expensive and I feel like I"m paying a lot for her to do more simple photos, which I don't know if that makes sense...?
This one was our original newborn photographer with LO1, but she only does newborn stuff now, and I want someone who will do 6 month shoots as well...but I did love her!

@hilsy85: meh, i don't think lifestyle means less work or less talented! i just think you can do less set up/posed stuff and get that natural beautiful photo. personally, i think those moments take more work and more talent.
grapefruit / 4455 posts
@hilsy85: Go with your gut instinct!@birdofafeather: I guess what I was trying to say wasn't that it takes less work but that we will already have similar pictures except for the ones that look a little more posed anyway.
My favorites of dd are the ones we took in her first weeks so there's that too.
pineapple / 12053 posts
@2littlepumpkins: oh, no worries, i was replying to hilsy's comment about paying more for simple photos, that's all. and i'm not against the posed stuff, but since hilsy mentioned wanted to have less stylized photos, i was just pointing out that it seems like the second photog does both (where as the first only showed lifestyle) so she could have her concentrate more on the lifestyle, less stylized!
grapefruit / 4455 posts
@birdofafeather: oh I know, I just realized my comment didn't quite read right after reading yours.
squash / 13764 posts
@birdofafeather: ha i actually agree that lifestyle is hard because you nee d to make the normal chaos of life look good
I am just really not a fan of the posed look, or even really stylized photography...just not my style, and we didn't do it with LO1, so I feel like it would look funny. I think I found a new photographer that we're going to go with--totally a gut feeling, but she lives right near us, and just seems really natural and I love her work!
@birdofafeather would of course love to hear your pro opinion
http://nickieicher.com/tagged/newborn-photography
In other news, we finally ordered LO1's big boy bed--that should be here next week and we'll see how that transition goes! I have my 30 week appt next thursday, and then it's every 2 weeks from there!!

@birdofafeather: yay thanks for the input! AND she's less expensive that all the others, woo hoo!

@hilsy85: REALLY?! she's good. i love her family stuff. i just started following her on IG!

Ahhhh I love posts about newborn photography. We booked someone already but I'm trying to read all of the posts/blogs and learn how to use my DSLR to take some of my own pics, too.
squash / 13764 posts
@birdofafeather: I know! I was so surprised.
@babycanuck: yes I definitely took a ton of LO1 with my camera too when he was little--so much easier when they're small to practice because they don't move anywhere I remember his monthly photos got progressively more difficult/blurry/I had fewer good ones to choose from!
pomegranate / 3105 posts
@hilsy85: My problem is I know I need to manually adjust things....I just don't know the best way to do it! I have a couple of lenses, including a portrait lens. I should just practice on my cat lol
grapefruit / 4066 posts
@hilsy85: gorgeous! Good choice!
I don't think we are going to do newborn photos with a professional this time..I may just have a friend come over and shoot some of us as a family with my nice camera.
squash / 13764 posts
@NovBaby1112: we had a friend do 1 year photos for us and I loved them! Unfortunately she moved away...I think having a friend do it is great because then you and LO are probably more comfortable!
grapefruit / 4455 posts
@hilsy85: very nice, and even better about the price!
@NovBaby1112: if you have a friend who can do it that could be more convenient and just as special! We just bought the Bella baby ones last time but this time got a package that we edited to include our daughter's third birthday pictures and family shoots so it seems like a good idea..but a friend doing them would have been awesome if we knew anyone who was into photography nearby!
nectarine / 2288 posts
@hilsy85: gorgeous pick! Love the pics. Might borrow some ideas for my shoot with my friend!
Had my 28 week appointment this morning. Everything looks good, baby girl is now at 78 percentile, eek! Guess my hubby's genes are taking over, he was a sizeable preemie. My weight is back on track, and doc agrees my gd seems mild, so just follow the diet and hopefully I'll get to cut down on finger sticks! I feel way better after talking to her, she's way more low key than the diabetes center is.
@babycanuck: cat practice is always good!

@NovBaby1112: I'm just going to get my sister to take some pics too...she's pretty talented,
Not a professional or anything but I'm happy with the newborn photos she did of Dd. I love the fancy professional pics but I'm too cheap!

@MamaBear87: I've been to one of those GD classes at a hospital run by the hospital nutritionist and it was SO strict, I doubt anyone followed it. Glad you are feeling better about it and baby is doing great!

@Mrs. Pickle: Yes, I have been soooo tired this week. It doesn't help that DH is traveling and I'm solo parenting a potty training 2 year old!!

Been out of the loop on here, finally getting a break from work until LO comes. Found out I failed my 1 hour glucose screen at 29 weeks so I have to do the 3 hour (although I want to know my number, the nurse didn't know). I nearly threw up the 1 hour so I am really dreading it (and if I am GD, I don't do needles so I don't know how I am going to check my blood sugar). So stressful (I got this call when I was out of town)!
squash / 13764 posts
@mrsjenbug: ugh sorry that sucks!! I hope you pass the 3 hour! When I did it, I found that it was really helpful to leave the office in between blood draws and walk around in the fresh air--I felt much better doing that than I did with LO1, when I felt awful during the whole 3 hours.
grapefruit / 4455 posts
This is totally a first world problem but I have now bought five non pregnancy tops in the past month (not anything pricey) because I am SO over maternity and having a giant belly. On top of all the uncomfortable things and the waddling I feel like I just look yucky! It's been fun regular shopping but I have no idea what size pants I'll need though.
grape / 91 posts
@2littlepumpkins & @hilsy85 thanks ladies! I will try the going outside during it...I will go nuts sitting in that lab room for 3 hours! I didn't fail it with my first pregnancy so I wasn't expecting to fail it this time
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@2littlepumpkins: I'm excited too to have my body back...especially since this is probably our last one . I've been researching weight watchers online and am excited to build a better wardrobe, since my clothes pre-baby 3 years ago definitely don't fit and aren't quality pieces.
That being said I'm trying to enjoy these last few weeks of being able to eat what I want for the most part and having my belly not be something I'm trying to hide !
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@mrsjenbug: sorry you failed the 1 hr hope the 3hr goes well and you can keep that drink down - it's so nasty!
grapefruit / 4066 posts
@MamaBear87: glad to hear things are going well and your dr provided reassurance!
@mrsjenbug: so sorry about failing the 1 hour! I failed mine too but passed the 3 hour, hoping for the same for you! I didn't feel nearly as sick for the 3 as I did for the 1, surprisingly.
@2littlepumpkins: that's fun! I'm super excited to get my body back and am excited about wearing non mat clothes too...I'm so over wearing the same stuff! This pregnancy has definitely changed my mind about wanting a third, I can't do it...so I'm excited about being done and getting my body bsvk
grape / 91 posts
@NovBaby1112: I am so hoping I pass the 3 hour! Good to hear that it didn't make you feel as sick as the 1 hour! I failed it by 1 point (couldn't that be lab error hahaha).
@charm54: thanks!

@mrsjenbug: I hope you pass the 3 hour!
@2littlepumpkins: I'm ready to go shopping too. I'd love to get some nursing friendly fall clothes and need a couple new pairs of jeans. It's going to feel so weird to wear pants with a button again!
Today is 2 months until my due date! Yay! DH and I took an infant safety and CPR class last night. When we left we looked at each other and said "now I'm scared!" Ha. The nurse talked a lot of SIDS and SIDS research, which freaked us out.
grapefruit / 4455 posts
@Mrs. Pickle: I'm with ya. The research freaks me out, but day to day I didn't worry much, at least not the first time around.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@Charm54: Yup, I was able to get outdoor privileges and saw my dogs today and last Sunday. I'm not bed ridden, I'm able to walk around in my room and go to the bathroom freely. I can go across the hall to the nutrition room to get snacks and juice. If I want to go anywhere else I have to be wheel chaired around. Like to see my dogs, my nurse wheeled me to the garden area and left me out there for a little while and I called her when I was ready for her to come get me. So it's not too bad.
@BelugaBean: Thank you. I contacted a local photographer and she will be doing maternity photos in the garden where I meet my husband and dogs when they come. I think it will work.
@NovBaby1112: Thank you. We have since spoke to the nicu doctor and they said that the babies will be in the nicu for some amount of time, so I should have at least 2 weeks to get things done with the nursery.
@MamaBear87: Aww, thank you, but I actually haven't had the chance to open up my kindle app yet to read. I've been busy with HB, FB, texts and phone calls from people. Also, I'm sorta semi working still since I can work from the hospital and need to tie up some loose ends. Hopefully, I'll be working another week and then I can officially be on leave.
@Mrs. Pickle: Thank you!
@2littlepumpkins: Thank you! I'm actually getting my maternity photos done this Friday. Though, we are meeting at 9am and the buildings that surround the garden are all medical offices. I think there might be a ton of people to work around. I'm going to see if she has any weekend days available.
@cranberry: Thank you!
@natalie403: Oh, that's so great to hear. Yeah, I hear after 28 weeks, babies are much better. Now that I made it to 30 weeks now and no issues, I'm feeling much better about making it to 34 weeks. Only 4 more weeks. I can do this!!
@Mrs. Goose: Yeah, I'm definitely getting tired of the food but DH is bringing me food from the outside.
@shellio: Oh, good ideas! I do wish I could find someone to come and paint my toe nails. I had them done a few weeks ago and they are now starting to chip.
@MamaBear87: Aww, I'm sorry you have GD.
@NovBaby1112: I must not be noticing the hiccups but since I'm being monitored at the hospital, I only see them when I'm on the machine.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
@birdofafeather: Yeah, before being in the hospital, there were definite days where I felt like I was waddling. It's weird, I actually feel less pregnant since I'm in the hospital and in bed most of the day. I guess it's a good thing.
@NovBaby1112: Glad everything was okay when you went to the hospital.
@Mrs. Goose: I found out last week that I passed the glucose test, too. As for BH, I felt them here and there when I was at home but I don't feel anything now that I'm in the hospital. I guess bed rest is really helping keep these babies from delivering early... but it's so weird because I'm kinda scared when labor does start, I'll go from 0-60 in terms of pain.
@Rainbow Sprinkles: I know you (or maybe it was your dr) were concerned about your weight so great job on losing 5 lbs!
@Mrs. Pickle: Glad you and the babies are doing well! What does it mean when they say you are measuring ahead? Especially since we know when we conceived (through IVF). Like is your baby growing better than expected?
@MamaBear87: Oh, yeah the movement. Early on, the girl was kicking like crazy and the boy was pretty quiet. Now, the boy is like kicking like crazy and the girl not so much. I know the girl is the one with the ruptured waters but I just wasn't feeling her as much. Luckily, both babies heart beats are normal, so no signs of distress. I did have a fluid ultrasound today and the tech was able to tell me where each baby's feet were and the girl was in the middle. That made me feel so much better because I was thinking it was the boy all along. So I think both have been kicking. I have a growth ultrasound with the MFM on Friday, so I'll be able to see how much they've grown and get growth percentiles.
@2littlepumpkins: Glad your flight went well (sorry about your UTI). My SIL got me a cute mommy-to-be package when I was home for my shower. Guess what, I took a shower the day I was to fly home... I left all the shampoo, conditioner, lotion and belly balm at my sister's house. I could ask my sister to ship it to me. I was thinking of just leaving it there since I'll be back for Christmas, but all that belly balm is kinda just sitting there doing nothing. Maybe I'll see if I can get my niece to ship it out to me.
@hilsy85: Yikes. That sciatica pain sounds painful. Can you ask your dr to see if you can take pain meds for it? I had to brown ligament pain a few weeks ago. (I didn't know what it was until my sister told me what it was. I looked it up and it looks like I could have taken some tylenol for the pain.) Anyway, hope it goes away soon.
@Charm54: Aww, your DD is so cute.
@Mrs. Pickle: Aww, boo on your hospital tour being cancelled. That sucks. I didn't get my hospital tour in (like scheduled) but luckily, since I'm in the hospital, one of my nurses gave me a brief tour when I was headed to the nicu to see their tour. Hope you don't go into labor before then.
@NovBaby1112: I told DH that I wanted to hire someone for our newborn pics but he said he wanted to do them. He's a good photographer but he hasn't done portraits or indoor photos before. He does great outdoor and landscape photos. He doesn't have all equipment either. I didn't want to argue with him so I told him he could do it. If it comes down to it, we can hire the photographer who is doing our maternity pictures to do our newborn pics. (Shhh.. I won't tell him that.)
@MamaBear87: Glad to hear your GD is mild!
@mrsjenbug: Sorry, you failed your 1 hr glucose test. Hope you pass your 3 hr test.
@Mrs. Pickle: Oh, wow. Yeah, that would have scared me too talking about SIDS. Glad you got your infant CPR and safety class in. I'm told that we will learn those things when our babies are in the nicu.
AND With that, I'm all caught up on responses! Woohoo! Trying to reply to everyone on my phone or ipad was just not doable, but hopping on my computer made things so much easier. Not that I like being behind on 2 weeks of responses.

@2littlepumpkins: surprisingly my dietician is pretty cool. Not at all like the nurse who ran my first class. And I'm trying to look on the bright side, this has gotten me walking at least 10 min after every meal, drinking more water and my weight has been the same for 3 weeks so hopefully it will make me and baby healthier. My doc also doesn't change anything for L&D unless I have to go on medication. @mrsjenbug: hope if you took your test it went ok! And hope you pass! But if you don't it will Prob be controlled with diet which isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
@bluestriped bee: so glad you've made it to 30 weeks! And sounds like you are keeping busy.
I don't know about anyone else but movement feels so different now that she's so big! Still feel some big jabs and kicks but it's cool to feel her rolling and such too! Had a labor dream the other day and rather than scaring me it made me even more excited to meet her!
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
@MamaBear87: yes the rolls are so cool! This little one is a lot more active than my DD was. I'm going to miss the kicks after I deliver, but I can't WAIT to find out if I'm having a or
... 33 weeks tomorrow, the excitement is really kicking in!!!
pineapple / 12053 posts
@bluestriped bee: Glad to hear you're doing well and babies are too. At this point, is it a day to day situation meaning that they evaluate how fluids, etc are, as long as labor isn't starting, it's just status quo? If you did start going into labor, would they stop it still? Glad you're able to have some sense of normalcy and getting a few more ducks in a row with work! So nice that your photographer can come and get photos of you too!
grapefruit / 4066 posts
@Mrs. Pickle: can't believe we are 2 months away!!
@bluestriped bee: hope you are doing well! 30 weeks is great! Hoping the next 4 weeks fly by for you!!
@MamaBear87: def feeling more large rolls and waves, with some kicks to the cervix every so often, fun!
@Charm54: I'm so excited to hear what our tem greeners are having!!! Do you have any feelings one way another?
I had an ultrasound yesterday to check baby's growth. He's 4 lbs and in the 32nd percentile, so they are not at all worried at this point about the marginal cord insertion. So that was a relief! He is in a weird position, both feet and head are down by my cervix and butt is up near my ribs, hope he's comfy like that!
