I wasn't sure which board to put this under...
After the "outing pregnancy thread on Facebook" thread, I realized that 9/10 times someone has a baby, I see someone else posting about it before the parents on Facebook, usually in the form of a congrats on the new mom and/or dad's wall. I get kind of irked for the parents every time I see this.. What if they wanted to tell family themselves that weren't in close proximity? Or make sure someone DIDN'T know before they left the hospital? What if they didn't want it on FB at all? Ugh.
Did this happen to anyone? How did you feel about it?
that is... I don't even have the words. People are unbelievable in this day of social media...
), and it's reinforced my thoughts that you need to tread lightly on Facebook with "big news," good or bad. I think waiting until baby arrives and is healthy and ANNOUNCED BY PARENTS is always a good bet. I've told everyone important, so no regrets here. You never know who is reading and what s/he had gone through when you post on FB.
