Oof, I don't know if it's a good idea if you aren't pregnant yet. You don't know how long it will take.

Especially because just getting a larger size may just totally not work on a pregnant belly, it may need to be altered around the belly to be a more maternity friendly shape. Perhaps you can buy one several sizes larger and then just plan on having it tailored?

2 sizes up would probably be the safest bet (plan for the most exreme change, just in case), although it may also be helpful to know the measurement differences between the sizes, too. You sure are juggling quite a few variables here(!), i.e., whether you are pregnant, (and if so, how far along you will be); whether you will gain weight (and if so, how much); whether or not you will be showing by then (I was barely showing at 20 weeks, although I had gained weight), etc. Good luck!

@Darling: Oh, good plan! I would go up two sizes just in case.

I'm in a wedding next weekend at 7 months pregnant. Luckily we got to choose our own dresses (Amsale bridesmaid line, lots of different styles). So I chose a v-neck empire waisted dress and went THREE sizes up. Thank goodness I did because now at 7 months all that needs to be done is the shoulders have to be taken up. It's pretty shameful that the high waist doesn't have to be taken in, but I'm just thankful that the dress is super comfortable and actually pretty flattering.
