Just curious WDYT
Are diaper raffle requests and registry suggestions too much? Same could be said of book requests and registry suggestions.
Here are two baby shower invites that hit the blogs within the last week. Both sent raffle & registry with the invite.

Where I live people want to buy babies stuff! Lots of stuff! So invites always have registry information in them. And a raffle sounds fun.
I think if someone is offended by either they can choose not to participate.

I personally don't think so. They are suggestions, not required. I love when people ask for books instead of cards. Cards are so expensive now that you can often find books for less and you know they will be read more than once.

I LOVE registry information! I want to get mama what *she* wants! Sometimes I throw in a little extra, but the main gift(s) are always from a registry when possible.
I have never heard of a diaper raffle. The only reason I wouldn't want one is that some diapers fit some babies better than others, and I wouldn't want a mish mash of diapers (that's also my OCD kicking in!). But that's just me . . . I would *definitely* participate in a raffle if there were instructions for one on the invite!
ETA: I will google around/search the most likely store candidates for registry information if there isn't one on the invite!

I've never heard of the raffle thing, but I think it's cute!
If there's not registry info, I ask for it, so they might as well put it in the card, cause the whole point of a shower is to shower the baby with gifts.

What is a diaper raffle? I don't get what that means in terms of a shower. Who (other than the guest of honor) would get the diapers?
Is it just another way to for diapers?

@looch: I guess it's sort of like a door prize, only you bring a pack of diapers to enter for a chance to win the prize (instead of, say, sitting in the chair that had the special item taped underneath the seat of the chair)?

I think it's a cute idea, but I was so OCD about diapers, it wouldn't have been a good idea, lol.

@MsLipGloss: The pink and blue invite I posted has diapers.com listed as a Registry. That mama-to-be is thinking ahead. Brands she wants to use, return policies etc.

I would probably never want any sort of raffle at my shower, but would have no issue if it were included at a shower I was invited to. I would hope registry info would be included, as otherwise I would worry that the mom would get things she didn't want/duplicates, etc.

I think it is a cute idea. I would just worry with the diaper raffle if everyone brings different types and then the parents to be are stuck returning to get the one that works best for the baby.

Registry information in shower invites are totally fine. Raffles are a bit weird to me. How does that work?

I've participated in a lot of book-as-cards showers, and I love them. So much so, that I don't even buy cards anymore. For a wedding shower I find a cute, kind of different, cookbook and use that as my card. Housewarming parties I buy cocktail recipe books... I write a message in them and that way I'm spending money on something people will hopefully use instead of throw away

@swurlygurl: I love that! So smart to do the same thing for adults. An oversized coffee table book on a typical that interests the host could work for a housewarming too. Bookstores mark down books all the time.

If you don't want to do cards, you can do gift labels, I keep meaning to print some but never get around to it.
They're great because you are never in a situation where you have to run out for a card, but then, you might run out of label sheets for the printer. In any event, another option.

We did a diaper raffle. People loved it and we had 3 gifts available that were about $25 each so they had the chance to get even more out of bringing diapers, if they won.
