I'm a teacher so I'm on my feet often. I'm also having back issues already in this pregnancy (15 weeks along).

My favorite ones, but very expensive.
If you are pregnant though, I don't know if I'd recommend spending so much on shoes that you might swell out of in a few months. Perhaps look at those when you are PP.

I was hesitant because they're Dr. Scholl's, but these are seriously the most comfy shoes I've ever owned. The cushioning is amazing.

I'm a teacher too. I like frye ballet flats or Stuart weitzman low wedges.

So before pregnancy I really loved the Cole Haan Milly wedge with Nike Air technology. They are really comfy and I still recommend them BUT with the foot swelling that happens in pregnancy, I haven't worn mine in a while.
Instead, I've worn these Dankso sandals exclusively since 24 weeks and they will last me until the end:

I PROMISE they look better in person - they don't look quite so old-ladyish in real life. I'm an attorney in an office setting and they look just fine with both business casual and professional attire. They are SO SO comfortable. Functionally, they are like a dressier Birkenstock. They have a cushy footbed with a low wedge heel that gives just enough heel support to keep your back from hurting. But the best part is that the straps are adjustable and the bottoms have a rubbery, almost tennis-shoe like grip so that you're less likely to trip and fall. I've had to widen the straps 3 times so far, so I think that justifies the cost. Otherwise, I would have had to buy more shoes!
Other women swear by Sanuk Yoga Slings, but I haven't tried them personally.

These Hush Puppies flats! They're the most comfy flats I own and they come in a bunch of styles/colors

I wore crocs mammoth flats exclusively when I was pregnant. I put them in the dryer and then let them cool off on my feet so they molded to me.

@mrs.shinerbock: I also second Born. I got a pair for my wedding and was so happy I did! and then I wore them for more than a year after that until they looked horrible (but they were still super comfy)

If they are not too casual for you, the TOMs wedges are insanely comfortable (and I have seen people pull the label off the back to make them less casual-looking).

I wear almost only wedges...some favorite brands are Cole Haan, Geox, Clarks (take a look, they're surprisingly modern).

@looch: I just bought a pair of Clarks heels and they may be the most comfortable shoes i have ever had and they are cute/work appropriate.

I also love Clarks clog/weges. They can sometimes run narrow though.
FYI, if you have a famous footwear nearby, they're having a bogo sale. I ended up getting some great deals over the weekend

I have a pair of Naturalizer Hasten flats that have served me well for years. They're not bad looking, but it's their comfort that makes them worth getting. And they're inexpensive!
